This is a museum attached to the "Roadside Station Narusawa", and admission is free, but it seems like a facility that was tacked on to the gift shop selling jewelry or accessories made from minerals on the first floor, and I felt that the theme and purpose of the museum were unclear (or blurred).
As soon as you enter the building, you will see the gift shop, and the entrance to the museum is on the side of the floor. Once you enter, it's so dark that there is only a little light, and a huge model of a T-Rex head is on display. If you go down the looped ramp, you will arrive at a floor with a model of Mt. Fuji in the center (this floor has sufficient lighting). On this floor, various minerals and ores are on display, with a focus on quartz, but not all of them are minerals that are produced in Yamanashi Prefecture (or in Japan). The exhibition also includes information on the polishing of the crystals that were produced, the eruptions of Mt. Fuji that are known about so far (from research and historical records, etc.), and the amount and direction of the lava and volcanic smoke that was emitted, but all of this is only outlined and not detailed, and it seems that the exhibition of minerals is just a little bit more than that.
You shouldn't have too high expectations of it as a museum, and it's probably best to think of it as a display space in the gift shop that introduces minerals.-

It's a little way from the station, about 7 or 8 minutes on foot from Takesato Station, and the area around it is a residential area, so it seems to be a restaurant that is popular with the local residents, especially the ladies. However, it's not so crowded that the seating area is full of customers, and because there is a good sense of distance between each seat, it seems to be a restaurant that anyone can use without feeling self-conscious.
The red chairs and white walls are the main colors, and although the other furnishings are also colorful, they are not overly so, and the restaurant is wrapped in a refined atmosphere. Although it can get a little crowded at lunchtime, the atmosphere of the restaurant, the appearance and seasoning of the dishes served, and the attentiveness of the staff all work together to ensure that it rarely becomes a noisy environment. Although there are a lot of pillars and walls, making it a little difficult to find and call the staff, the service is very polite (at least during the quieter times), and you are unlikely to feel uncomfortable.
The name of the restaurant is “Italian”, so there are pasta and pizza dishes, but perhaps because the cafe aspect is a little bigger, there are many single dishes, especially dishes that make good use of vegetables. The dishes are delicious and the presentations are beautiful, so you can enjoy it just by looking at it. The highlight of this restaurant is the decoration of the plates on which the desserts are served. The plates, which are decorated with various characters using chocolate and candy, are fun to look at, and you might think it a shame to eat them.
I think this is the perfect place for a relaxed lunch or dinner with friends.-

Chinese diner popular with tourists also, a wide range of reasonably priced menu items

This Chinese diner is located in front of the Licorice Residence, about a 2-minute walk from Enzan Station. Both the exterior and interior of this diner give off a typical, old-fashioned atmosphere, generally, most of the customers at this kind of diner are local residents, but because it's close to Enzan Station and the Licorice Residence, it's also popular with tourists. For this reason, it's particularly busy at lunchtime on weekends, and there are even times when there is a queue outside the diner. There is a parking lot, but please note that there is very little space.
It seems that the husband and wife are running the diner together. As a result, both husband and wife are very busy moving around, and the service seems a little careless. However, perhaps because they have been running the diner for many years, although it takes time from ordering to serving your dish, there are no basic mistakes in ordering or serving. On the other hand, the diner is not very large, and although it's on the first floor of the building, the entrance door is a manual opening and closing type, so people with disabilities such as wheelchair users may find it a little inconvenient.
Despite being run by a small staff, the diner offers a huge variety of dishes. There are many noodle and rice dishes such as ramen and fried rice, as well as large dishes that are typical of Chinese cuisine in town. There is also a selection of alcohol, but the lineup is almost the same as that of a popular izakaya, with beer and shochu as the main offerings. The dishes are seasoned with less spicy and less strong flavors that Japanese people like, but they are reasonably priced and very filling. If you use them after a hike, you may feel a sense of euphoria spread through your tired body.- 旅行時期

Very accessible old residence of important cultural property, with a peaceful atmosphere
The Takano family's residence, which was once the home of a wealthy farmer in Enzan. The family has been cultivating licorice, a medicinal herb, since the early Edo period, and the residence was given the name "Licorice Residence" because the Tokugawa shogunate designated the family as its official supplier of licorice.
It's an important cultural property that is easily accessible from the center of Tokyo, as it's only a one-minute walk from Enzan Station and there are also not a few trains that stop at Enzan Station. Despite its proximity to the station, the sounds of passing trains are a little distant, and it's a peaceful place that is perfect for taking a leisurely stroll while admiring the Edo-period house.
The grounds are not exceptionally large, so it doesn't take more than an hour to see everything. Although the house has three floors, only the first floor is open to the public, and as it's not a complicated structure, there is no chance of getting lost in the house. From mid-February to mid-April, the house is filled with hina dolls that have been handed down (or donated) from the Edo period, making the house even more luxurious. It's not so crowded that you can't see the house even on holidays, so you can almost always enjoy a leisurely visit.
In addition, licorice is still cultivated on the grounds, and there is also an exhibition about licorice in the storehouse on the grounds. I think this is a facility that is also educational for learning about licorice itself, rather than just appreciating the house itself.- 旅行時期

Cafe where you can enjoy dishes made with bread that comes in a variety of flavors and appearances
This is a cafe located near Komoro Station. Although it's close to the station, Komoro Station only has a ticket gate on the east side, so you must use the pedestrian bridge or the level crossing to get there from the station. It may seem a little troublesome to access from the station, but as this is not a cafe you would use in a rush, you could use it as a place to relax and take a break while waiting for your train.
There is a laundromat on the same floor as the cafe, and as there is no clear separation between the two, the faint scent of the detergent from the laundromat may drift over to the cafe.
You can place your order and pay at the counter in advance, and then pick up your food and drink when it's ready. When you leave, you need to return the dishes and trays.
With the exception of the side dishes, the main dishes are all bread-based, such as toast, hot sandwiches and hamburgers, and the toppings for the toast are particularly varied and some of the presentations are quite extreme. Some dishes are very simple, while others are very filling and hearty. Some are lightly seasoned, while others are a little greasy and filling, so it might be a good idea to order a few different dishes and take turns sharing bites with each other.
With around 20 to 30 seats, almost all of which are for four people, it is not suitable for eating in with a large group. As the staff are few in number, they juggle taking orders, cooking, and doing the accounts, so it may take a little time for your food to be ready after you have ordered.- 旅行時期

The small shrine and the garden in the precincts are best in autumn and winter
This shrine is located almost in the center of Kaikoen, and was built on the site of the former main keep of Komoro Castle. As the main keep itself is surrounded by the stone walls of Komoro Castle, this shrine is the highest point in Kaikoen. However, the slope is gentle, so it is not a difficult place to climb.
The precincts are not very large, and it takes less than 30 minutes to walk around them. There is a small garden in the precincts, and although it's not a showy 'Japanese garden' like those you might find at an old temple, it's beautifully maintained and the autumnal foliage and winter snow will delight visitors.
As a shrine itself, it has the same kind of impression as the shrines you often find in the city, and at least in the worship hall, there are no striking features unique to this shrine.-

You can enjoy the changing seasons in the garden from the house, but the house itself is small
This is the building that was used as a residence by the first governor of Toyama Prefecture, Kunishige Masafumi, during his term of office. It was originally located in Toyama City, but was moved to its current location in 1891 (Meiji 24), and then in 1931 (Showa 6), Tenshinji Temple purchased the entire site, including the garden, and it has been there ever since.
It's very easy to get to, being less than 5 minutes from both Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line and Shin-Kurobe Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway Line. However, there is a difference between the price for just walking around the garden and the price for visiting the Shoushoukaku building, but there is no staff member checking tickets separately inside the Shoushoukaku building. In order to collect the designated fee properly, I think it would be better to have staff at the viewing area or to unify the fee with the fee for walking around the garden.
The building is relatively small, and all the rooms are quite simple in their layout. There are some antiques on display here and there, but they don't destroy the atmosphere of wabi-sabi in the rooms at all, and they create a simple but tranquil atmosphere. The view of the garden from the second floor is also wonderful, and you can enjoy the changing scenery depending on the season. Despite its proximity to the Shinkansen station and the prefectural road, you won't hear much of the hustle and bustle of the Shinkansen or cars, which is one of its charms.
On the other hand, there are some areas with very low door frames, so be careful not to bump your head when visiting. Also, the corridors are narrow, so it's a good idea to give way to each other when passing each other. Although the building is regularly maintained, it's an old building, so you can hear the creaking of the boards in some places. The stairs to the second floor are narrow and rather steep, so children under 12 years of age are not allowed to go upstairs.- 旅行時期

Typical small municipal zoo where you can enjoy yourself without overthinking things
This is a small zoo located within Komoro Castle Site Kaikoen Park. As admission to the park itself requires an entrance fee, admission to the zoo is also charged. Most of the animals on display are typical, relatively small animals such as rabbits, pigs and penguins, but there are also a number of large or unusual animals on display, such as lions and peacocks, which are not often seen in small zoos run by a city.
As it's a typical zoo in a park run by a city, the grounds are not very large, and if you just want to walk around the park, it should only take about 30 to 40 minutes. The way the animals are displayed is also typical, with most of them being viewed from outside their cages, so it gives the impression that the zoo is more about admiring the animals themselves than observing their natural behavior and ecology. Unless there is an event being held, you basically can't touch the animals, and there is no dedicated petting corner.
It's better not to have too high expectations of it as an attraction, but I think it's one of those spots where you can relax and spend time without thinking about anything.-

A diner with an atmosphere reminiscent of old Japan, even in the summer you will be felt cool
This is one of the several diners on the approach to Musashi Mitake Shrine. The exterior and interior of the diner are reminiscent of a typical diner located on a mountainside, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the good old days. As it's located at a high altitude, it is cool and comfortable even in summer, including the surrounding environment of the restaurant.
On the other hand, I don't know if it depends on the season or the ingredients they have in stock at the time, but sometimes they only serve soba (and rice and side dishes), and sometimes they only serve udon (and rice and side dishes), and I've never seen a situation where you could at least choose between both soba and udon. It might be a good idea to check in advance when you use the diner.
All the dishes are simply seasoned, and there is nothing strange about them, but I think the seasoning and appearance are just right for soothing the fatigue of climbing mountains or visiting shrines. The staff were polite throughout, and I was very impressed.
In the summer, you can enjoy shaved ice served in generous portions (the price is higher for this). You can see the outside view from the seats by the window. The view outside is not exactly spectacular, but the lush green scenery of the mountainside spreads out and I think it soothes the hearts of those who see it.- 旅行時期

One of the most popular grilled food restaurants in the Nagano Station area
This is one of the restaurants in the restaurant area on the 3rd floor of 'MIDORI Nagano', the commercial facility that makes up Nagano Station, and it's a restaurant where you can enjoy meat dishes that make full use of beef and pork from Shinshu. The restaurant is typical of those you would find in a shopping mall, with only a simple fence separating the restaurant from the walkway, so you can see in clearly and the delicious aroma of the meat wafts through the walkway, whetting your appetite. On the other hand, the interior is set to a slightly dim lighting, which creates a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. As it also has a bar aspect, there is a wide variety of drinks, and there is a particularly large selection of wine to go with the meat dishes. Perhaps because of this, you often see foreign tourists visiting Nagano.
The basic way to grill the meat served is medium rare, and while the surface is seared to maintain a crispy texture, the meat itself is tender and smooth. You should be aware that some parts of the meat are a little tough to bite through and a little greasy, but the saltiness is just right and you can enjoy it to the very last bite.
As this is a popular restaurant in the restaurant district, the staff always seem to be busy, but they were not particularly rude. As mentioned above, there are many foreign tourists who use this restaurant, so it seems that there are no particular problems with English-language communication.- 旅行時期

This is a small, popular diner next to Onomichi Station.
In addition to Onomichi Ramen, which is one of the local dishes of Onomichi, oden is also a popular dish at this diner, and there is also a side to the diner that is like a Japanese-style pub because there is a wide variety of drinks, but there are not many table seats and most of the seats are counter seats, so I think it's not suitable for use by large groups of people. In addition, even though it's a counter seat, it's not the typical izakaya style where you enjoy drinks and dishes while chatting with the staff. Rather, it's a place where you can enjoy dishes and drinks with a small group of people you know well.
The staff's customer service was also very good, with a clear and friendly response while maintaining a good sense of distance. The atmosphere at the entrance to the diner gives the impression that it's a place that caters to the local residents and tourists are more or less not welcome, but in reality this is not the case at all, and you can see that foreign tourists also use the diner without any problems.
The dishes served are also very good, with neither the appearance nor the flavor being strange in any way. The environment is relaxed and informal, and on a cold winter's day, the warmth of the oden will penetrate your whole body. If you are unsure of where to eat in the Onomichi area, this is one place I would recommend.
On the other hand, the door to the entrance of the shop is a manual opening and closing type, so people with disabilities such as wheelchair users may find it a little difficult to use.-

This is a museum where you can learn about the history, process, tools used in iron production, and the chemical reactions and changes that occur during the production of Tamahagane, the main method of iron production before the modern era. During the Edo period, tatara iron production in the Chugoku region, particularly in the San'in region, accounted for around 80% of the iron produced in Japan, and it was so prosperous that ironworks were established in various places, centered on Yasugi. The fact that Yasugi is home to Kanayago Shrine, which enshrines the god of Tatara iron production, shows how prosperous the iron industry was there.
The permanent exhibition space is not very large, and if you just read the explanations for each exhibit as you go round, it will only take about 30 minutes. In the center of the exhibition room, the equipment used in Tatara iron production, including the bellows, is displayed at almost full size, and there are also videos showing the actual process of using this equipment, so you can see that extracting high-quality Tamahagane was back-breaking work.
There are dedicated information sheets in each exhibition corner, which you can pick up for free, so you can use them to reinforce your learning of tatara iron production. On the other hand, as almost all the explanations are in Japanese only, I think the exhibition is difficult for foreign tourists to understand.
It's about 1km from Yasugi Station, and although there is access by bus, it is also about a 15-minute walk. There is also a large car park, probably because the municipal library is next door, so it's easy to access by car.- 旅行時期

Both the interior and exterior give the impression of a slightly formal restaurant, but the staff's customer service is very warm and friendly, and they also treat you in a casual way, so I thought it was a Tonkatsu restaurant that you could use casually.
You need to buy your meal ticket in advance from the ticket machine near the entrance. The food served is basically pork from Kagoshima's specialty, black pigs, but with the 'mixed fry' you also get cutlets made from other ingredients such as prawns and seasonal fish, and each item is served freshly fried. Although the price is high, it's a popular menu item, so many customers order it.
Since the pork cutlets are fried slowly in low-temperature oil, it takes time before they are served. Even so, the heat penetrates all the way to the center of the meat, and although the texture is firm, the meat is tender, so I think you can enjoy it until the very end. On the other hand, because it might be fried slowly at a low temperature, the breading of the pork cutlet was more likely to retain moisture than a pork cutlet fried at a high temperature, and I felt that the crispiness of the breading was likely to disappear over time.
It's on the first floor of the building, and although there are no steps at the entrance, it is a sliding door, so people with disabilities such as wheelchair users may find it somewhat difficult to use.- 旅行時期

Very quiet but lonely atmosphere at the shrine, also spot to look up and admire Tateyama Castle

The shrine is located at the foot of a small mountain where Tateyama Castle once stood. The grounds of the shrine are not very large, and it takes less than 30 minutes to walk around the grounds. The shrine is not visited by many people except for festivals, even on holidays, and although the mock castle tower of Tateyama Castle can be seen from the foot of the mountain, the atmosphere is indescribably lonely. Nevertheless, it's not a rundown shrine, but a well-maintained one that is loved by the local residents.
It's fairly new for a shrine, and was built as the guardian of Tateyama as a whole, enshrining the many shrines in Tateyama that collapsed during the Great Kanto Earthquake. The current worship hall was also built in 1929. The torii gate is new, but the precincts of the shrine, especially the hand-watering stones, are quite old. It's thought that they were brought from different shrines at the time of establishment. It would be nice to take a walk in the quiet precincts of the shrine while thinking about the shrine and its history, which is no longer there.- 旅行時期

This Chinese restaurant is located about a 3-4 minute walk from Matsu-hidai Station, and is one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in town. The restaurant is so popular that there is a long line of customers waiting in line during lunch time, especially on weekdays and holidays, and word of mouth and social networking services have spread, attracting not only local residents but also customers who come from far away just to visit this Chinese restaurant.
The interior design is typical of a Chinese restaurant in town, with red tables and other furnishings that are not overly flashy, but create a lively atmosphere. The dishes served are generous in volume and reasonably priced, but there is nothing eccentric about the presentation or seasoning, and everyone is able to enjoy the food in a casual manner. As mentioned above, this is a very popular restaurant, so depending on the time of day, it may take some time from ordering to serving.
The staff's customer service was neither good nor bad, and they maintained a good sense of distance (I don't think they are ever unpleasant to deal with).- 旅行時期

The Treasure Hall is located within the grounds of Musashi Ontake Shrine. Armor and swords from the late Heian period to the mid-Edo period are on display, and are so valuable that they have been designated as national treasures or important cultural properties. The “Akaito-odoshi no Yoroi (Armor with red-thread)” dedicated by Shigetada Hatakeyama is particularly remarkable, as it has survived for almost 900 years, although many parts have been repaired during the Meiji period.
The Treasure Hall is a two-floor structure with steps at the entrance and stairs to the second floor, making it unsuitable for wheelchair users and other visitors with disabilities. The building itself is small, and it takes only about 30 minutes to walk around. Perhaps to protect the exhibits, the lighting in some areas is dimmed, making it difficult to read the explanations of the exhibits. In addition, most of the explanations are in Japanese only, and the staff will give you a tablet terminal to assist in explaining the exhibits when you enter the museum, but it is also in Japanese only, so foreign visitors may find it difficult to understand the exhibits.
Photography is prohibited inside the museum. Several factors may make the admission fee of 500yen seem somewhat excessive.-

This shrine is located on top of Mt.Mitake. It's one of the most popular tourist spots west of Ome, and although it's located in Tokyo, it's nestled in a rich natural setting. The shrine is accessible by bus and cable car from Mitake Station, the closest station to the shrine, but since the altitude is less than 1,000 m and the approach to the shrine is paved, it can be accessed as if trekking from the station, although it takes some time(but, access in sandals or heels is not recommended).
After passing through the approach to the shrine, which is lined with souvenir stores and eateries, visitors enter the shrine through the third torii gate and ascend 330 steps to the hall of worship. Although there are many steps, they are not steep and relatively easy to climb. The precincts of the shrine, including the hall of worship and the smaller shrines and regent shrines, are not very large, and it takes only about 30 minutes to walk around the grounds. However, the view from the shrine grounds is spectacular and worth seeing even if the purpose of visiting the shrine is not to pray. On the other hand, the path from the hall of worship to the Okumiya Shrine is a serious hiking course, so appropriate equipment is required.
In summer, the area around the shrine is relatively cool and comfortable, even in the boiling heat of central Tokyo. On the other hand, the weather can be changeable, and sudden thunderstorms are frequent. In the event of severe wind and rain, the cable car service may be suspended. It is also advisable to take insect repellent.
This is a shrine of mountain worship that can be easily visited from the city center and can be returned to the city center on a day trip. For this reason, many foreign tourists can be seen here.- 旅行時期

A simple ramen restaurant, both in serving and seasoning
This is a ramen chain restaurant located along Route 55. The road in front of the restaurant is busy on weekdays and holidays with many cars (most of them for sightseeing), and there is ample parking space in front of the restaurant, so it seems that many tourists stop by on their way to see the sights.
The restaurant is relatively spacious, with ample counter and table seating (about 50-60 seats). The ramen dishes are simple in both presentation and seasoning, and there is nothing eccentric about them, but this may be one of the reasons why not many customers stay long, and because the customer turnover is good, even during lunch hours, there are few occasions when customers have to wait outside for a long time, even if the place is crowded.
You need to purchase a meal ticket in advance from the ticket vending machine located near the entrance. Perhaps because we used the restaurant during an empty time of day, the staff generally treated customers well and were courteous to those who did not know how to operate the ticket vending machines.- 旅行時期

Cafe with the perfect mix of stylishness and old-world ambiance

This cafe is located on the first floor of a shopping mall at the east exit of Fukui Station. The interior is characterized by a good mix of stylishness and the atmosphere of a good old-fashioned coffee shop, and despite its location in front of the station, which can be quite noisy on holidays, the interior seems to maintain a moderately quiet and comfortable atmosphere.
Although the name of the restaurant is “Coffee” and it is a cafe, it serves not only light meals such as sandwiches, but also set menus that can be found in many restaurants and diners in town. However, these dishes rarely emit such a strong smell that they spoil the aroma of the coffee. On the other hand, such set menus are not suitable for those who want to eat with gusto, as they seem to be typical in both flavor and presentation and somewhat small in quantity.
The staff generally responded well to customers, ordering and serving them smoothly.-

This ramen restaurant features a soup with a rich and mild flavor. The soup is well mixed with the noodles, and the taste does not repel each other. The flavor is neither too strong nor too weak, but spreads slowly in your mouth, leaving you with a euphoric feeling after eating. The restaurant is so popular that there is a long line of customers every day, and it is no wonder that many foreign tourists visit the restaurant. The soup stock seems to be made from kombu (kelp), dried bonito flakes, and niboshi (dried sardines), but I did not detect any distinctive fishy smell at all.
The staff generally responded well to customers, and appeared to be fluent not only in English but also in Chinese and Korean.
You must purchase a meal ticket in advance from the ticket vending machine located near the entrance. The restaurant is small, with only table seating and no counter seating. The aisle is also narrow, with only enough space for two people to pass each other. Although there is a long line of customers almost every day, the customer turnover is not bad, so it is best to share the aisle with other customers.
You can fully enjoy the ramen and tsukemen on their own, but you may want to order tai-meshi rice as an additional entrée. Pouring the soup from the ramen into the tai-meshi bowl will give it a chazuke-like taste, and the flavor of the soup will mix well with the tai-meshi rice, making it even more delicious.- 旅行時期
