主に瀬戸内や太平洋に生息する海洋生物が中心的に飼育・展示されている水族館です（淡水に生息する生物も飼育・展示されていますが、海洋生物の方が数も種類も豊富です）。水族館の周囲には、道の駅を始めエンターテインメント施設が多くあるため、その分駐車場も広く整備されています。一方で宇多津駅から1km程度であり、鉄道を利用して駅から徒歩でアクセスする客も多いです。
多くの水族館では、ある程度のルートが決まっていますが、この水族館はまるで樹状のように入口から様々なゾーンに直接行くことが出来る設計になっています。かなり自由に水族館内を探検できる反面、迷子になりやすいので、小さな子供連れの場合は注意が必要です。また各ゾーンの展示は、『●●の景』という名前が付けられており、水槽内の生物だけでなく、その生物が生息する環境も楽しめるように工夫されています。各水槽の説明文もほとんどが手書きで、飼育されている生物の細かいところ（体の部位や生活様式等）や注目してほしいところなどが緻密に紹介されています。その一方で、ヒトデや貝など、直接手に触れるコーナーはありません。
イルカのショーを楽しむブースもありますが、規模としては小さめ、という印象です（イルカのショーを主体で楽しむ水族館でないと感じました）。ショーの内容次第では思いっきり水しぶきを浴びますので、レインコートの他、タオルや着替えなどを事前に用意するといいでしょう。
全てのブースの行き来には、階段だけでなくスロープも設置されているため、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方でも気軽に利用できます。

The aquarium mainly breeds and exhibits marine organisms living mainly in the Seto Inland Sea and the Pacific Ocean (freshwater creatures are also bred and exhibited, but marine organisms are more abundant in number and variety). Because the aquarium is surrounded by many entertainment facilities, including a roadside station, so the parking lot is spacious. Moreover, the aquarium is about 1 km from Utazu Station, and some visitors use the train to access the aquarium on foot from the station.
While most aquariums have a certain number of routes, this aquarium is designed like a tree-like structure that allows visitors to go directly from the entrance to the various zones. While this allows visitors to explore the aquarium freely, it's easy to get lost, so visitors with small children should be careful. The exhibits in each zone are named "(blah-blah-blah) Views", so that visitors can enjoy not only the organisms in the tanks but also the environment in which they live. Most of the explanatory text for each tank is also handwritten, and it introduces in detail (body parts, lifestyles, etc.) and points to note about the organisms kept in the tank. On the other hand, there is no section where visitors can directly touch starfish or shellfish.
There is also a zone for enjoying the dolphin show, but I feel it to be on a smaller scale (I felt that this is not an aquarium where the dolphin show is the main attraction). Depending on the show, you may be splashed by the dolphins, so it's a good idea to bring a raincoat, towel, and change of clothes in advance.
All zones are accessible not only by stairs but also by ramps, so even visitors with disabilities, such as wheelchairs, can easily use them.
