シャモニーモンブランエリア2日目です。旅行前の予定をガラリと変えて。
Day 2 at Chamonix Mont-Blanc area. I had to completely change my itinerary prior to my arrival.

エリア シャモニー(フランス)

おはようございます。ここのところこの地域は毎日雷雨が心配されているけど、ホテルの窓からモンブランがのぞめて、「天気が崩れる前に早く出かけよう！」。八時半の山に行く汽車に乗りたいから朝食を早めに、七時半にとろう。(私の休暇中の時間帯では七時半は早い)
Good morning. The weather forecast is not favorable last few days in this region, always risk of thunderstorm. Still, when I looked outside from my balcony, I could see Mont Blanc (means White Mountain) above clouds, so I should head off catching a diesel train at 8:30. It is early for me to have breakfast at 7:30 when it is not working day but let's go!

モンブラン 山・渓谷

雲の流れが速く、山を隠したりあらわしたり。こういう自然現象がとても好き。Clouds running fast and moubtains are covered/uncovered seconds by seconds. I love seeing this natural phenomenon though.

朝ごはんを食べにきました。ホテルから歩いて1分。観光案内所、教会の真ん前。多くの登山グッズが店内にあります。夜の1杯もよさそう。
Came here to have breakfast. 1 min from my hotel, in front of tourism office/cgurch. Lots of mountain climb equipments. It has a very cozy atmosphere, I sure believe that a drink at night is great too.

なんと休暇後今日(火曜日)が初オープンだとサーバーか店主さんは言います。何があるのかと聞くと、朝はクロワッサンかタルティン(バゲットとバターとジャム)かそれらのパンとオレンジジュースと温かい飲み物の全てのセットだけ。では8ユーロで、menu complétにしました。クロワッサンが美味しいの。パン屋さんがデリバリーにきていました。シャモニーでこのお値段は安い方だと思います。
The server or owner of this little bar told me that today is the first day back for her from vacation and I was the first client. She either had croissant or tartine (baguette/butter/jam) or another called "menu complét" for 8,00? - these two with orange juice and hot drink. I just asked the latter. Croissant was such a crispy and delicious one. I had seen a bakery delivered them. This price is really reasonable in Chamonix.

バーの奥さんに「あれがモンブランですよね?」とベタな質問をすると「そう、あの一番小さい山がモンブランですよ」と茶目っ気たっぷりに言います。サンフランシスコに行った時に、ゴールデンゲートブリッジが大震災の際に落ちたと当地に行った際最終日まで信じていて、当の橋がその隣だったことを知らなかった経験をふまえ、ベタな質問でもするべしと思いました?
When I asked the bar owner/server lady pointing out the mountains, "Is that Mont Blanc?", she grinned at told me that :
"Yes, the smallest one is the Mont Blanc. (oui, le plus petit est Mont Blanc?.)" When I visited San Francisco, I had been believing that the Golden Gate Bridge was the one which fell by the earthquake until I got there and knew it was actually the bridge next to it was the "one". So checking what you belive as a fact isn't always a bad idea.

これはフランス国鉄（SNCF)の駅で、後で乗ります。今私がむかっているのは、もうひとつの駅、昔蒸気機関車を使っていた山、氷河エリアにのぼる電車にのれる駅です。
This is the Chamonix Mont-Blanc SNCF (French National Railway) station. I would take this later. I will go to a station beside this to take another train, which used to be a diesel train to climb to the mountain/glacier area.

その名もモンタンヴェール鉄道、駅。これはシャモニーエリアでもらうゲストカードでただで乗れる電車ではありません。Compagnie du Mont Blancという会社の運営。コンディションが大事なため、天候良好日のみ運転。

This train ride is unfortunately not included as a free-ride as a part of Chamonix Guest Card (Carte d'Hôte). It is run by Compagnie du Mont Blanc on weather permitted days.

モンタンヴェールの登山鉄道 体験・アクティビティ

駅内にある模型です。時刻表と運賃は前述のサイトにてチェックできます。登山者、ロッククライマー、観光客に大人気なので、時間に余裕をもっていきましょう。
This is a miniature version of the train at the station. The timetable and fares can be checked on the website that I have attached above. It is recommended to have plenty of time if you plan to ride as it can get very busy with both rock climbers/hikers/tourists.

エギーユ・デュ・ミディの展望台3,842メートルに行くロープウェイが運休されていて、その代わりにとホテルですすめられたブレヴァン2,525メートルのロープウェイも実は運休と観光協会に告げられて、乗ることにしたのがこちらの山電車。
I was actually thinking to go somewhere else called "Téléphérique de Planpraz et Téléphérique du Brévent" that goes to 2,525M high as alternative to
Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi to 3,842M. But even that one was out of service.

20分かけてノロノロときつい登山を電車がしてくれます。というか八時半始発の車内は満員、そのうちロッククライマーが7割くらい。
The mountain train takes good 20 min to climb as if it reminds of us how hard to go up such a steep hill. The first train on the day is full. I could see at least 70% of the passengers were rock climbers in groups.

つきました。
数年前ニースの近くの方の山道を走る電車が脱線した事故がありました。ですからこのような特別な電車は特に安全確認が大事ですね。
Arrived!
But a few years ago, a mountain train closer to Nice had a derail accident so it is important to ensure safety more than anything else when it comes this kind of special trains.

駅の名ずばり山の名前。
The station name is the mountain name.

駅の真ん前がこれ。高いお金出して来た甲斐がありました。
Just in front of the station where I got off is this. It was all worth paying expensive to get here.

モンタンヴェール 山・渓谷

Mer de Glaceとは氷の海。まさにそうですね。
Mer de Glace literally means sea of ice. It truly is.

皆と同じ方向にかなり危険な岩道を降りていきました。でもこれ以上は私のようなギアなしの人は進むべきではないとロッククライミングのロープを装着しているグループの方達にいわれました。道がまだ雪に覆われていたり、ドロドロだったり、凍っていたりのせいでこれ以上は通行止めです。
I went very rocky/dangerous paths down but everwhere I went, either you had to have special equipments to do rock climbing or road closure as still snowy/muddy/frozen soil. I was told by a group of rock climbers who were just putting on their ropes for prep that I should not keep on going forward.

でも来てよかったです。野花を一枚。
But I was really glad to be here and took this wild flower photo.

では次にこのシャモニー渓谷のゲストカードを使い、どこかに行きましょう。フランス国鉄の各駅停車とシャモニー渓谷地域を走るローカルバスが滞在期間のり放題です。
Let's go somewhere else by using this guest card. I can take the SNCF local trains and Chamonix Valley area local bus unlimited during my stay.

国鉄 シャモニーモンブラン駅から乗ります。今回の旅でフランス国鉄に乗るのは予期しなかったこれが初めて。まぁこのゲストカードで無料でのれますから。各駅停車の電車もちょうどこの日はスト実施日で間引き運転でしたが、乗る直前にオンライン時刻表と紙の従来の時刻表を比較して見れたので、どれが間引き運転か計算済みで駅に向かいました。
Getting on the local train run by SNCF (French National Railway). As I scratched out the option of getting high speed or express trains run by SNCF this trip due to their prolonged nationwide strike of three months period, I had not planned to take even this local train. But since it is free for me, why not taking an advantage of it. This day was actual strike day (three stike planned days per week in this June!), but as I knew the local train service was sporadic rather than no service. I checked online and paper based normal time schedule just before now and compared which trains had been cancelled and which one was actually running. In this way, I did not wait/miss my trains.

電車の中の天井と両壁はほとんど窓なので、車内からの景色は最高。氷河もみられました。
The ceiling and side windows/walls are all glass, so the view is great from this local train. I enjoyed my 35 min ride including looking at glaciers to the station that I wanted to get off.

Servoz駅でおりました。私の好きな無人駅、電話も待合いタクシーもない。。。
I got off at Servos station. No station staff, no phone, no taxi...

ここは一緒の駅で降りたフランスの方と行き先が同じで、お互い道に迷っていた感があったので、一緒に目的地まで歩くことにしました。こんな綺麗な川を渡ります。
As I got off but there was no indication of the directions, I headed together to my destination with a French guy who had also wanted go hiking in the same park as myself. Crossing a beautiful river.

この方向であっているそう。これでも村の中心部です。
Ok we are heading to the right direction via village centre.

アルプスの家。
Alpen House.

ありました。目的地の渓谷公園入口です。入り口が分かりづらくて通り過ぎましたが、近くのレストランの人が入り口を教えてくださいました。こんな山奥のレストランですが、そこ、ミシュランガイドおすすめなんですね。
Finally found the destination. It is an entrance of the waterfall park. The entrance was kind of hidden, so we had to go back. The server at restaurant nearby told us how to get to the park entrance. It is a hidden house looking restaurant in this tiny mountain village but it is indeed introduced as a recommended restaurant in the Michelin Guide.

こちらはGorges de la Diosazという5つの滝と谷からなる渓流公園です。
The park is called Gorges de la Diosaz. You can admire the valley and five waterfalls.

入場料は6・5ユーロ。というのも岩の上や横に設置された遊歩道のメンテナンスはかなり重要だからですし、崖崩れ、川の洪水もあります。
The adult price is 6,5€ because of highly required maintenance for the paths we are walking on and control of fallen rocks due to weather/rain.

遊歩道は時には岩の上や橋だったりします。2.6キロに渡り往復同じルートを通ります。約130メートルののぼりがあり、500段です。動きやすい靴、ベビーカーは無理です。
The footpath along the falls or on the rocks or bridges were 2.6 km long. We have to come back to the same route as we took. Elevation is 130M, about 500 steps. Good walking shoes recommeded and no stroller possible on the footpath.

コンクリートの道の上は太陽じりじりで暑いのに、この森林自然の「天蓋」はまさに避暑効果抜群。
The outside on the pavement streets is hot but this natural canape like forest is indeed so refreshing and cool.

あれ、これカナダみたい！と思うと、その通りです。カナダの先住民の方たちの風習を真似て、なんでもバンクーバー五輪のあとに自然を敬うために作られたと。
I thought this was the same thing we see in Canada and indeed they made this influenced by Indeginous people from Canada. This was recently created after the winter Vancouver Olympic Games in order for them to prey for and respect nature.

上流に行くとともに滝はより力強くなってきて、水しぶきがひんやりミストのよう。
The waterfalls are getting more dynamic as climbing and splash is misty and cool.

ここではバイソン(牛)の死骸をみました。公園管理者によると、雪山の水が早く溶けすぎて洪水のようになり、渓谷に住んでいる動物がその滝の流れに飲み込まれてしまう事故が今年は頻発していると。
Here, I saw a dead bison. According to the park ranger, the snow on the mountains melted too quickly, so it caused waterfall flooding. The animals living in the valley were unfortunately swept away by the rapid waterfall especially this spring.

さらに公園管理者の方は続けます。「死んだ動物が滝にさらされていると、流血が下流し、魚にも悪影響を及ぼすのです。ですから私たちは動物が天候不順で滝にのみこまれる自己頻発防止策と、一刻でも早く死骸を滝からのぞかないといけません。」
The park ranger kept saying : "having dead animals in the waterfall and the animal blood streaming down actually damage fish too. So we have to come up witb the solution so that animals do not get swept away often due to irregular weather conditions like this and remove the dead from water as soon as possible."

このアングル好きです、けれどこれで遊歩道が急だったりくねくねしているのがお分かりいただけるでしょう。こんなところで大きな動物の死骸を水から取り除くのは素人でも簡単でないことがわかります。
I love this angle a lot but you can see how steep and winding the paths are. Not easy for them to remove the huge dead animals from the water.

そしてこんな風光明媚なハイキングコースを命がけで作ってくださり、維持されている方たちに、まさに入場料は必要だと思いました。
Also I bow my head to those who created/mIntained this beautiful trail. Some died and some sacrified so much time and efforts.

この狭い吊り橋を渡るのは興奮しました。大人の遊園地みたいです。
I feel excited to cross this narrow hanging bridge. I feel like amusement park for adults.

これらの花崗岩で、様々な色に輝いていてきれいです。もちろん苔もところどころむしています。
The rocks are composed by grinate so they are shinny and beautifully colourful. You can also see moss.

みてくださいこの道。当時この道を作られた方たち、そして今も維持されている方達に敬意。
聞こえてくるのは水しぶき、葉っぱの揺れる音、鳥の声、そしてすれ違うハイカー達の挨拶。お互いにシャモニー滞在をしていて、本当の意味の静けさをこの渓谷で味わえて幸せと語り合う。
Look at this path. I respect those who made and maintain this footpath.
All I hear is water splash, leaves shaking, bird singing, and greetings between hikers. We found this hidden place finally as a gem in this popular mountain area.

この日のこの渓谷散策は私にとって、「有名」なモンブランのロープウェイに行けなかった「代わり」ではなくなりました。この旅の立派なハイライトの一つになりました。
This trail course became no longer an "alternative" plan of not able to make the "famous" Mont-Blanc trail. It became one of my favorite moments of this trip.

木なども流されたのがまだそのままになっています。いつかできればこんなところに住んでみたいなんて山女は思うわけです。
I could see tree debris too, so that they wanted to clean. If possible, I would love to live this kind of place... as a "mountain girl".

そろそろ引き返し点です。あぁ綺麗な色と水の落ちる爆音。帰りたくないな。
Almost returning point. What a beautiful water color and enormous waterfall sound. I do not want to go back.

虹も見えました。その昔、この渓谷では自家発電もしていたそうです。すごいですね。
I could see the rainbow. Back then, they used to produce electronic in this valley.

岩と岩の間に挟まれた岩が見えますか? 素晴らしいなぁ、自然でできたアートみたい。
See the rock stuck in the middle? It is fantastic as art created by nature.

最後の150メートルはなんとこの岩の壁に張り付くようにして作られた

ここで引き返します。ゆっくりと休憩したりハイカー達とお話したり、休憩したり、水をのんだり、勿論写真を撮ったりで約1・2時間往復でかかりました。素敵な充実した時間でした。
This is the last point, so we shall return the path. It took me beautiful 1.2 hours in total with a very slow speed with the time to chat with other hikers/rest/drink water and of course take some photos.

駅に向かって歩いていると、滝の看板が。またほかの滝? 電車まで時間があるし、よし行ってみるか。通り掛かった教会。
Going back to the station, there is a sign of "waterfall". Again? Ok, let's go if it is not too far as I still have some time to catch the train. Passed by a pretty church.

この美しい家のバランスの良さは特記すべきものがあります。伝統と時代の先端の。外観はシンプルでいてスタイリッシュ。あぁもしこんなところに住めたらなぁ。。。。

This beautiful house has the great balance - traditional and moder features. The deco simple and stylish. Just imagine if I could really live here...

滝は歩いてもすぐなさそう。よし駅に向かおう。それにしても清潔でいいお家が多いし、まだ建築中の家も多い。どこかみたいにみんな一緒の建物ではないですよ、きちんと骨組みからしている。
It does not look like the "waterfall" was nearby. I should stop going too far and just head back to the station. There were many houses under construction but there were not cookie cuttered houses like somewhere I know.

シャモニーに無事戻り、シャワーを浴びてバーガー屋へ。アルプスビールと。水がおいしいからかビールの発酵がうまいのか。どちらにしろおいしい。
Came back to Chamonix safely and showered/refreshed. I came to eat a burger. This is Alps Beer. Water is good? or brewary method is good? Anyway it is good.

チーズふんだんのバーガー。美味しい。
So cheesy burger, it is great!

シャモニーお休み。今日も忘れられない日になりました、と言っても旅はどれも私にとりとても大切ですが。よんで頂きありがとうございました。

  ぶどう畑です。
  エギーユ・デュ・ミディのロープウェイに乗れなくて残念でした…。
  でも、素敵な景色に出会えたようですね！
  
  私の初のフランスは、シャモニーだったんです。
  スイスのマルティニーから入りました。
  麓から見るモン・ブランは、いや麓からでなくてですが、ヨーロッパアルプスの最高峰とは思えません。
  ただ、ロープウェイに乗ったりしているうちに、頭がガンガン痛くなって、高山病にかかりかけたので、やっぱり標高は高いようです。
  
  エギーユ・デュ・ミディへの途中のロープウェイ駅から、モンタンヴェールまでハイキングして、メール・ド・グラスも見ました。感激でした！
  その氷河、後退している…。
  2006年にスイスに行った時も、グリンデルワルトの氷河後退して愕然としましたが…。
  
  私たちの生活が地球温暖を促進させていると思うと、心苦しいです。でも、その一方で、生態系を狂わせないようにしている人たちがいる。頭が下がります。

  いつもありがとうございます。私もぶどう畑さんの旅行記を拝見していますよ。
  
  もう何度お会いしてもお話してもぶどう畑さんの知らないことがいっぱいで、それこそ宝探しみたい！ 初フランスがシャモニーだったのですね。なんだろう、勝手にアルザスとパリかと思っていました(それは私か)。
  
  いいですね、そのハイキングコースも楽しそう。けれど私はそのロープウェイにすら乗れなかったので、急遽全く違うプラン、観光局で何個か教えてもらったオプションを考えたり、電車の中からよさそう、と思った所に行ったりしました。
  
  二年前はフレンチバスクや少しピレネーにも行きましたが、やはりシャモニーの山々の標高は素人からしても高いと思いましたけど。あと私は今回これでアルプス大好きになってしまいました。
  
  氷河も後退しているのですね、氷床もものすごい勢いでとけてきているので、くまなどが棲む地帯が変わってきていますね。そうですね、私たちの生活が自然界を破壊し続けているのです。自然を敬う気持ちは便利さを優先する気持ちに掻き消されてしまったのでしょうか。
