It's one of the three most famous scenic spots in Japan and attracts many tourists from home and abroad.
However, it's not a scenic spot that is crowded even on holidays. If anything, the overwhelming majority of tourists enjoy the view from the heights of Amanohashidate Viewland, etc. This scenic spot is only a series of sandy beaches and pine forests, so it is not recommended to expect an element of entertainment. It may be a great place to stroll while learning about the geology of a place that has been built up over a long period of time.
Because it's a scenic area, conservation efforts are regularly undertaken, and from that standpoint, most of the paths are not paved, except for a few facilities such as restrooms. Therefore, on rainy days (or the day after), many of the paths become muddy and puddles form. Visitors are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Also, be careful not to let your hat or other items get blown away on windy days. Also, no vehicles other than special vehicles are allowed to enter Amanohashidate.
Even so, the lush pine forests provide a good amount of shade from the sun, so even in summer, you can enjoy a walk without feeling too hot. It is a good place to spend a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Since the southern and northern ends of the trail are about 2 km apart, there are benches along the way for visitors to take a rest.
