Japan　Nii's holiday ③ in Yokohama English Garden ～ミツバチばあやの冒険～

Around 10 years ago, I met Nii in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city.
She was from Taiwan married to a Pakistani, had three children.
Her gramma was a Japanese.
From Nii I could learn many things about Pakistan, living
information, differences in customs between Far East and South
Asia and much much more.
唐辛子婆がカラチでNii に会ったのは10年以上も前になります。
祖母が日本人の、台湾出身のNiiはパキスタン男性と結婚し
3人のお子さんがいました。
Niiからはパキスタンについての数えられないほどの様々なこと
生活情報や、極東と南アジアの習慣の違いなどを教えてもらいました。

Tommorrow Nii has to take a bullet train for Osaka by herself,
we confirmed the way from the hotel to the nearest station.
明日にはNiiひとりで新幹線に乗って大阪に向かうので
ホテルからの最短ルートをチェック。

You can buy ticket easily because the vending machines
at the Tsukuba Express station are multi-lingual.
つくばエクスプレスの切符自動販売機も英語がでてくるので大丈夫。

"I bought a bullet train's ticket for Osaka from Tokyo
as soon as I arrived at the airport in Osaka.
I thought I should have bought it in advance."
As soon as I arrived at the Airport in Osaka,
I bought a sim card and put it into my mobile phone.
So I can get transit guide information with Google Map.
Progress of technology is amazing,isn't it!!"
「新幹線の切符はもう買ってあるの。
前もって買っておいた方がいいと思ったから。
大阪の空港についてすぐスマホにシムカードも入れたし
グーグルマップで乗り換え情報も簡単に見れるし
ホントにテクノロジーの進歩ってすんごいわよね！」

As the first thing in the morning, we queued for Skybus reservation
at the Mitsubishi Building, Marunouchi side of Tokyo station.
However, we found that we had to wait for 45 munites,
so we decided to go to the Yokohama English Garden at first.
そして今日はまず東京駅丸の内口近くの三菱ビルヂングで
スカイバスに乗るための予約に並びました。
そうしたら45分待ちだとわかって先に横浜イングリッシュガーデンへ。

We had some sandwiches at a bakery cafe in the Yokohama station.
横浜駅のカフェで軽くサンドイッチをいただきました。

In Karachi,I wanted to eat Anpan.
I made Anko(sweet stuffing) using black-eye-beans instead of
azuki-beans and I brought the Anko to a bakery in a new supermarket
and asked the bakery to bake Anpan.
カラチにいた時アンパンが食べたくて
black eye beans（黒目豆）という小豆そっくりな豆であんこを作って
スーパーのベーカリーに持ち込んで焼いてもらったのでした。

An Indonesian manager at the supermarket commented:
"It's very yammy! But if you mix some coconuts milk with Anko,
it would be much more delisious!

"You enjoyed Karachi life very much."
Yes! If I can visit Karachi again, I will take you to Karadar,
the old town area of Karachi because you don't know much about the area.

"Woow, how lovely!"
On the way from Hiranumabashi station
Nii found some common vetch.
I told her that they are bothersome wild flowers.
"So, they are weeds, not wild flowers.
Still, they are so cute!"
相鉄線平沼橋駅からのみちすがらに「ま～～かわいい！」
カラスノエンドウの花にニッコリのNii.
やっかいものの雑草(wild flower)ですけどねとニベもない唐辛子婆に
「じゃーwild flower ぢゃなくてweedね。それでもかわいいわ。」

ならば種ができた頃にお送りしませう。

Here we are at the Yokohama English Garden!
さて、横浜イングリッシュガーデンです。

Along the Rose Gate Street,
They displayed miniature houses of those you can see in Cotswolds.
ローズゲートの通りは
コッツウォルズのやうなミニチュアの家で飾られていました。

Every house is nice!
どれもこれも素敵よ。

Fully frilled gorgeous pansy flowers
フリルたっぷりのゴージャスなパンジーたちが

smiled nicely.
ゆったりとほほえんで。

Nii's garden in Karachi is full of beautiful green
and they keep many carps in a pond.
" I'm a person who spends money only for golf, patchworks and gardening.I go shopping only for food."
Nii has a strong will.
She is a very attractive person.
カラチのお庭には池に鯉が泳いで緑がとってもきれい。
「自分はゴルフとパッチワークと園芸以外のことには
お金使わない人なの。ショッピングは食べ物だけだし。」
Niiはそういうブレない、はっきりした意志を持っている人。
本当に魅力的な人です。

”We have only short winter,
so it is difficult to grow Japanese flowers."
Yet, she kept on taking photos of Japanese flowers.
「カラチは冬の期間が短いから日本の花はなかなか育たない。」
そういいながらも撮影に夢中になるNii.

This kind of tulip was also found in the Showa Kinen Park.
It is called "wedding vale".
このチューリップは昭和記念公園にもありました。
ウエディングベールだったかな？

Baby fern looks yammy.

When I visited madam Q in San Francisco,
I found some baby fern at the Farmer's Market.
M, madam Q's daughter was surprised to know that it was edible.

Nii took a rest at a gazebo.
ガゼボでひとやすみ。

"My elder son will marry soon with one of his childhood friends.
In Pakistan, since arranged marriage by parents is common,
my husband was against their marriage at first.
It's funny,isn't it.
He forgot that our marriage was a love marriage.
(We met at the University )."

「もうすぐ長男が結婚するの。
パキスタンではお見合いがフツーなので
幼馴染との結婚に主人が最初は反対したのよ。
面白いでしょ？
自分は恋愛結婚（留学中の大学で知り合った）だったのを忘れて＾＾。」

"To my astonishment,
our son told us that they would live in our house
since it is common in Pakistan."
「なんと長男は私たちと同居するっていうのよ。
パキスタンではそれが普通だからって。」

Oh,my god!
It's quite unusual that young people say like that!
"Well, I don't like his idea.
It's not easy for people in different generations and customs
live together in a same house.
Well, only for a short while,they can live with us."
ええっ？！若い人からそういう話がでるなんて信じられない！
「でしょ。私もやなこっただわ。
世代も習慣も違うのにお互いに窮屈な思いすることないじゃない。
んま、当分の間だけは同居してやってもいいけど。」

"Oh no, LINE from my younger son. He found a rat in our house!"
Oh my poor thing! Does he stay alone?
(His father is now in Islamaberd on his business.)
「あらあら三男からLINEだわ。家にネズミがでたんですって！」
まあ、かわいそうに、末っ子一人でお留守番？
（パパは仕事でイスラマバードに滞在中。)

"It's OK. The elder son and our maid are with him.
We have a gardener,too and the younger son is already 15 years old."
「いえいえ、長男もいるしメイドもいるから大丈夫。
お庭にはマリ（庭番）もいるし。それに三男ももう15歳よ。」

Oh my god!
He was around 5 years old when we lived in Karachi.
How fast time flies!
あらまあ、私のいたころはまだ5歳ぐらいだった。
年とる筈ね。

Nii looks like a tiny girl in a secret garden.
秘密の花園の中で少女になったみたいなNii.

Tommorrow, Nii will meet her daughter in Osaka.
She flew from Taiwan where she is studying at a university.
They will visit Kyoto and Nara.
I recommended Nii to see double-petal-cherry blossoms
in the garden of the Osaka Mint Bureau.
明日から台湾に留学中のお嬢さんと大阪で待ち合わせて
京都や奈良へ遊びに行くというので大阪造幣局の八重桜をオススメしました。

On the departure day
since it was so cold to have sleet falling in Tokyo,
I was so worried about Nii. I wonder if she used heat pads.
出発の日は東京でもみぞれが降るほど寒かったので風邪をひかないか心配。
ホッカイロ使ってくれたかしら？

How about the Skybus?
We had not enough time to take it.
"Keep it for the next chance."
Yes, let's take it with madam Q next time.
Nii,many many thanks for coming to see me!
え？スカイバスはどうしたのって？
時間が足りなくなって乗らなかったんです。
「次回の楽しみにとっておけるわよ。」
そうね、今度はサンフランシスコのマダムQと一緒にね♪
