コスモス満開の博多　弟の結婚式 my bro's wedding in the fully cosmos season at Fukuoka

弟が博多で結婚することになり、私はカナダから式に出席しました。九州はあまり訪れたことがない私たち家族はその前後、九州で少しゆっくり旅しました。九州は11月なのに、暖かく満開のコスモスが迎えてくれました。
おふたりとも、あらためておめでとうね。

My brother got married at Hakata, Fukuoka. I flew from Canada to attend his wedding. My family also stayed extra time to enjoy traveling Kyushu area as they are from other part of Japan. It was surprisingly warm in November with full blossom of cosmos. Congrats again!

トロントから羽田乗り継ぎ、無事に福岡空港に着き、計17時間くらいの移動が終わり[ほっ]。国際線から24時間以内に同じ提携会社の（スターアライアンスなどの）国内線を乗ると、普通1万ちょっとでJALやANAに乗ることができるのでそれを利用。タクシーの運転手さんと私が大ファンである秋山幸二さんのことについて盛り上がる！そうそう、この日はヤフオクドームで彼を継いだ工藤さんが日本シリーズの指揮を奮っていた夜でした。

I flew from Toronto via Haneda (Tokyo) to Fukuoka, which roughly took 17 hrs of traveling time in total. When we take the same airplane partnership flights within 24 hours of international flight, normally a domestic flight is just additional 10,000 yen or so. I often take advantage of this (Air Canada, then take ANA in Japan as they are also a Star Alliance member). On the way to get to this hotel, I had a fun conversation with a taxi driver about my favorite retired baseball player/head coach at Fukuoka Soft Bank team.

このビジネスホテルはまだ2018年当時できたばかりで、新しく、6千円前後で泊まれたので良かったです。博多駅にも徒歩ですぐ。狭いけれど、朝食付きでこのお値段はいいですね。

This business hotel was just built (when I stayed there) in 2018. Very close to Fukuoka station. It was barely 6,000 yen (about 72.41 CAD as of Feb 2020 currency rate) with a convenient self-served breakfast and you can drink coffee/tea 24 hours at downstairs. The room is tiny but the price is unbeatable.

福岡といえば、そうです。豚骨ラーメンを。560円也。ばりかた、とか注文してみる。

Talking about Fukuoka prefecture (Hakata city)? Of course, Tonkotsu ramen comes in mind! Just 560 yen, about 6.76 CAD. I ordered extra hard noodles. People in this area normally request how hard they want their noodles would be.

2日目。さぁぐっすり眠り、快晴！今日は市内からフェリーに乗り、能古島（のこのしま）という少し下をかんでしまいそうなところに行きましょう！福岡は2回目、九州は3回目なので、土地勘はあまりありませんし、どこへ行くにも新しくて楽しい。

Day 2. I slept well! It is a beautiful sunny day. I will take a ferry to Noko Island. Like a tongue twister in Japanese "Nokono-shima". This is my second short visit in Fukuoka city and third time in Kyushu area. As I am unfamiliar with this area, anywhere I go is exciting and new to me.

博多駅前から市バスで、姪浜フェリーターミナルにきました。そして島に行きます。ちょうどバスの中でコスモス畑キャンペーン中の市バスと能古島アイランドパークを宣伝していて、公園入場割引券を運転手さんに下車するときにいただきました。
I took a Hakata City bus for Meinohama Ferry Terminal. In the bus, the driver was kind to offer me a discount coupon for Noko Island Park that I will be visiting. The park and City bus were offering a special promotion of cosmos viewing.

島へ向かいます。といっても日本には無数の島々がありますが。。私の目的は正面のもの。
Heading to the Island. There are so many islands in Japan, but my destination is just ahead of me.

後ろに福岡市内。
Fukuoka downtown area is now behind me.

島についてからも、バスにまた乗り、やってきました。島のバスも満員、そして公園入口も長蛇の列。みんなよくこんな遠くまできたなぁ。
ピンクのはコスモスです！この公園でキャンプもできます。

After I got off the ferry, I took another bus in the island in order to get to this Noko Island Park. Even to buy an entrance ticket, there were lots of people. It was surprising to see so many crowds in this remote island park..
Things in pink are cosmos.　You can also camp in this park.

11月とは信じられない陽気、この日は20°もありました。
Can you believe this is already in November? It was almost 20 degrees this day.

ろばやヤギやうさぎなどもいました。
Donkeys, goats, rabbits .. there were some animals.

お地蔵さん。
この公園は農業をしていて、都会の低コスト、大量生産には勝てないと思った島民の久保田耕作さんが19歳のときに、島観をいかして自然の公園をつくろうとしたのがはじめです。彼が35歳の時に開園！
JIZO　status.
Mr. Kosaku Kubota who was a farmer at Noko Island thought they could not beat big cities - low cost, mass productions. He then decided to make a nature park using this beautiful location rather than proceeding agriculture. It took him 16 years but finally the park was open!

このように文化遺産の建築物もあります。山下邸。
You can find a few architecture heritage sites too. 　Mr. Yamashita House.

カナダから来ると、楽しみなのが和食です。刺身定食。コスモスと海を遠目に見ながら。こちらのほかに公園内にはレストランや喫茶もありますし、バーベキューができたりもしますよ。
Coming from Canada to Japan, I am so thrilled to eat Japanese food. Eating Sashimi lunch menu in front of cosmos field is such a joyful moment. There are a few restaurants and you can also enjoy BBQ with your family too.

満開のコスモスに感無量。なんだか弟たちの結婚を祝福してくれているように感じました。
I was so impressed with these gorgeous cosmos. I felt as if flowers were celebrating my brother's wedding.

この公園は自然保護のため殺虫剤を使っていないそう。ですからコスモス畑を練り歩くとコオロギがものすごいよ。
They say that this park is committed to protecting environment without using pesticides. So if walking through the cosmos fields, you would see lots of crickets.

鶏頭の花も咲き乱れています。公園を2時間ほど堪能しました。こちらの公園、福岡に行かれるかたはおすすめします。季節によりそれぞれの花畑が待っています。
Cock's combs were in bloom too. I stayed at the park about 2 hours. I highly recommend this park if you ever visit Fukuoka. Each season can offer wonderful flower field views.

バスに乗り、フェリー乗り場で一度おりて、徒歩で白鬚神社へ。なんでも奈良時代の建築らしいです。このあと島特産のミカンと無花果を買い（とてもおいしかった）、フェリーで福岡本島に戻りました。
I took an (Island) bus to the Ferry stop. I walked a bit and came this Shirohige Shrine, which was built in Nara era (710AD to 794AD). Before riding a ferry back to Fukuoka main island, I bought island specialities - mandarins and figs (very tasty).

夜は弟＆お嫁さん宅に少しお邪魔して、家の近くにある博多うどん屋さんへ連れて行ってもらいました。各テーブルにはどーんと刻みネギとが入れ放題。
At night, I went to my brother and his wife place. He took me to a Hakata udon restaurant nearby. Each table, there is a bowl of sliced scallions... You can put as much as you want.

私は肉ちくわうどんを頼みました。博多うどんも豚骨ラーメンほど知られてはいないかもしれませんが、とても独特で地元性あふれます。麺はかなり太く柔らかく、うどんが汁を吸いこむのを楽しんで食べる感じです。こんなに量も多くおいしいのに、また一杯600円以下と嬉しいお値段です。弟とうどんを囲みながら、会話を楽しみました。2日後の式の準備で忙しいなかありがとう。
I ordered meat and fish cake (chikuwa) tempura udon. Hakata is famous for tonskotsu ramen but their udon is as originally local as tonkotsu ramen. Noodles are much thicker and softenr than normal udon. So noodles actually suck up soup so much. It was less than 600 yen but so filling and delicious! I had a great chat with my brother over udon although he was super busy prepping for his upcoming wedding in two days.

福岡3日目、友泉亭公園にきました。日本庭園と建築が素晴らしい。
On my day 3 in Fukuoka, I came to Yusentei Park. Beautiful Japanese garden and house.

抹茶と和菓子をいただきます。
I had a bowl of matcha and a Japanese sweet. Be careful that their prepared matcha is corse and unsweetened than intentionally known, so normally it is taken with a tiny Japanese hand made sweet like this.

今度は大濠公園にきました。昨日から公園とついているところに3か所目ですが（笑）。
Then I went to O-hori Park. This is the third 'park' that I have been visiting since yesterday LOL.

さぎちゃんも結構います。この公園はとても大きく、マラソンルートもあり、かなりランナーの方もいました。
There were some herons. This park is massive and there is also a marathon track so many people were running.

城跡もあり、小さな史料館にもいきました。なんと1607年に建てられたものらしいです。そして平和台陸上競技場の横も通ります。
There were castle ruins as well as a tiny tourist office. Apparently the castle was made by masters of building castles in 1607. I also passed beside Heiwadai track and field area.

またまた博多ラーメン。普通においしい。一杯560円っていいなぁ。
Once again Hakata ramen. Delicious. It is too good to be true only with 560 yen.

今日は両親が到着の日。博多駅は複合ビルやデパート、バスターミナルもあわせてとても大きな建物。九州一大きな駅ですね。
My parents are arriving at Fukuoka today. Hakata Station connected with station buildings (department stores, shops, restaurants, and even bus terminal) is the biggest station in Kyushu but not the biggest in Japan.

博多駅新幹線口で両親と従兄と居酒屋に。従兄と会うのは5年ぶり。九州の魚もおいしい、という私のリクエストで刺身など。金曜の博多は大混雑、お店を探すのも大変でしたが、呼び込みで行ったわりには、いい居酒屋でした。
I went to Izakaya at Bullet train exit of Hakata Station with my parents and my cousin. I had not seen him for 5 years. Hakata was bustling city on Friday night, it was hard to find a restaurant or bar for 4 people. This place was good although we just came across. Sashimi in Kyushu is great.

式当日も素晴らしい快晴、気温は20℃近く、最高です。チャペルの前屋外でライスシャワーならぬ折り紙シャワーを新郎新婦は受けたあと、結婚式。
On the day of wedding, it was excellently beautiful with 20 degrees. Newly wed got not rice shower, origami shower on the way to get this chapel and we had a ceremony here.

パルファンさん、Pedaruさん、スケッチの会のメンバーとして、和装した新郎新婦を描いてみました。本当はもっと美男美女ですが。とても温かい式で、たくさんの方がお祝いして下さいました。おめでとう！
I drew them in kimono. I belong to Sketch Club on this travelogue site and I wanted to try to upload my work. They are in fact much more beautiful than this drawing : ) The party was very warm and it was celebrated by many people. Congrats!

私も留袖を着ているので、慣れていないのもあり、結構帯が胸からお腹まで圧迫していて食欲がないかと思ったのですが、大ご馳走をおいしくいただきました（笑）。テーマは和食をまとったフレンチ。創作力溢れる前菜、オマールエビやホタテ、お嫁さんによりセレクトされたワイン、素晴らしい！
I am wearing kimono that I am not used to normally. The belt (obi) is as tight/wide as corset belt, so I was thinking that I may lose my appetite. But delicious feast - fusion of French and Japanese - made my assumption wrong LOL. Creative beautiful appetizers, lobster, scallops, cavilars, his wife's selection of wine... C'est excellent!

Fois gras with sweet jus. Rice soaked in Japanese tea bowl with dashi of red snappers, we call it Ochazuke. It was all delicious. I will remember this day for good. Thank you for reading.

  弟さんたちは九州でご結婚されたのですね。おめでとうございます☆彡
  カナダから駆けつけられ、ご両親様と九州旅行も楽しめてよかったですね。
  1年と少しが経過し、今頃はご家族が増えたかしら？
  11月とは思えない暖かい日差しの中で満開の秋桜が
  空に向かって咲き誇る様子に元気をもらった気がしました。
  でも今回一番驚いたのはdankeさんがスケッチの会の
  メンバーでいらっしゃり、絵がとてもお上手なことでした。
  愛情あふれる優しいタッチの絵がとても素晴らしくて見入ってしまいました！

  弟へのお祝いのメッセージをありがとうございます。私はこの時以来博多（九州）には訪れていないのですが、元気でやっているようです。晩秋の九州、とてもおすすめです。
  
  (￣∇￣;)ハハ、そうなのです、実はフォートラベルのスケッチクラブの会員なのです。ただ今まで描いたのはまだ3枚、母を描いたブルターニュに行ったときのものと、トロントの公園で描いた景色画、そして今回の弟の結婚式のものです。弟夫妻も驚いたらしいですが、思い出になるものをあえて絵に残すのは素敵だな、と再認識したものです。

  いつもありがとうございます。式よりずいぶん時がたちましたが、私の日本国内初の旅行記は、めでたい弟たちの結婚式のことにしようと思いました。この数か月後に横浜でぶどう畑さんとお会いできたのをとてもうれしく覚えております。
  
  留袖はカナダからネットで日本の着物屋さんでレンタルしました。ご存じのとおり私はかなり身丈があるので、標準といわれるサイズより選択肢が少なかったのと、在庫が少なかったのでそうしました。実際見てもいないし試してもいない留袖をネット予約するのは少し冒険でしたが、非常にぴったりで大満足です。母からの提案で、滅多に着ることがないので、おめでたい機会に着てみました。
  
  温泉宿も大変よく、九州の暖かい気候と皆さんの朗らかな性格も含めて大変いい旅になりました。

  コスモス畑の向こうに、海、島が見える広大な風景～
  
  え、この景色を絵に？　と思ったら
  
  とってもキュートなお二人の絵！
  和の衣装なんてどこから描き始めるのか・・
  難しいモチーフでしたね。
  ほんとに、ほのぼのとした感じが伝わってきました！
  
  随分催促してしまいましたが、これからも旅行記に
  忍ばせたり、コミュの方で披露して下さいね！

  結婚式、博多、そのあとの九州旅行は最高でした。日本でももっと行きたいところがたくさん！！ 弟が九州在住になり、数回九州を訪ねましたが、食べ物もおいしいし、人もやさしいし、雰囲気が穏やかで、気候もいいし、自然もたくさん。いいところだらけ。
  
  和装を描くって難しいですね。でも描くのなら、今回は彼らを描きたかったのです。
  
  しばらくお休みしていたデッサンの方も再開したいと思えました、ありがとうございます、パルファンさん。フランスに今度いったら私も絵画屋さん巡りパルファンさんみたいにしてみようかな?

  ありがとうございます❗ 実はこれ2018年の11月なんです、今さらアップしているので誤解を招いてしまったようですね😓
  
  この公園は外国人の方々もたくさんいらして、驚きました。大人気です。とうの弟は博多在住数年ですが、まだのこのしまアイランドパークには行ったことがないと。。素敵なのでおすすめしておきました。
  
  確かに、気が向いたらまた英語でも書きます。カナダでも英語で書いたときは、友人たちに送信しているので。気負わず、マイペースで、ですね。
