This is a record of my trip from July 23rd to July 26th, 2022, which was part of a larger tour of power spots in Aomori Prefecture, focusing mainly on the Shimokita Peninsula.

7/24（日）
田舎舘村で田んぼアートを見たあとは、下北半島の大間岬まで移動します。その途中で、酸ヶ湯温泉を通るので、ここで休憩してヒバ仙人風呂で知られる東北を代表する名湯の日帰り温泉を楽しみます。

July 24th (Sun)
After seeing the rice paddy art in Inakadate Village, we headed to Oma Cape on the Shimokita Peninsula. On the way, we passed through Sukayu Onsen, where we would take a break and enjoy a day trip to this famous hot spring resort, known for its cypress wood bath.

酸ヶ湯温泉 温泉

酸ヶ湯温泉から大間岬までの中間にある道の駅で休憩を取ります。大間岬までの自動車専用道路は無料でした。

We took a break at a roadside station located halfway between Sukayu Onsen and Oma Cape. The expressway to Oma Cape was free of charge.

午後６時ごろ、大間岬に到着しました。本州北端の宿、海峡荘にチェックインです。
新館に泊まりました。旧館の方が北側にあるので、正確には旧館が本州最北端の宿です。

We arrived at Cape Oma around 6 PM. We checked into Kaikyoso, a hotel at the northernmost tip of Honshu.
I stayed in the new building, while the old building is located to the north. Technically, the old building is the northernmost inn in Honshu.

海峡荘 グルメ・レストラン

まぐろ一本釣の町おおまのシンボルモニュメントです。

This is a symbolic monument of Oma, a town famous for its tuna fishing using the single-line method.

大間崎 自然・景勝地

天童よしみさんの歌の歌詞の中に大間崎が入っているので記念碑が建てられています。

各地を放浪した女性がついに大間崎にたどりついたというさみしさを感じさせる歌詞です。

A monument has been erected because the name of Oma Cape is included in the lyrics of one of Yoshimi Tendo's songs.
The lyrics evoke a sense of loneliness, describing a woman who, after wandering from place to place, finally arrived at Oma Cape.

大間崎 自然・景勝地

1月~8月はオフシーズンのため、取れ立ての大間マグロはありませんが、冷凍された大間マグロが出てきました。口の中でとろけるような食感で今まで食べたマグロとは全然違います。冷凍でも十分に大間マグロの実力を楽しめました。

Since January to August is the off-season, freshly caught Oma tuna wasn't available, but frozen Oma tuna was offered. The texture was incredibly soft and melted in my mouth, completely different from any tuna I'd ever eaten before. Even frozen, I was able to fully enjoy the high quality of Oma tuna.

海峡荘 グルメ・レストラン

7月25日（月）
大間から仏ヶ浦観光船が出る佐井港まで車で30分程度の移動です。佐井はこの辺りでは人の多いところのようで学校に向かう学生さんの姿もチラホラ見えました。

恐山の奥の院と言われているとは知らず、恐山に行く前に仏が浦に行くことになり、順番があべこべですが、そこはご愛敬です

佐井港（津軽海峡文化館アルサス）から仏ヶ浦定期高速観光船（運賃往復2500円）ニューしもきたVに乗船して30分の遊覧で仏ヶ浦に到着します。10:30発の便に乗り込みます。

July 25 (Mon)
We drove about 30 minutes from Oma to Sai Port, where the Hotokegaura sightseeing boat departs. Sai seemed to be a fairly busy area, as we saw a few students heading to school.
I didn't realize this area was considered the inner sanctuary of Mount Osore, and I ended up visiting Hotoke-ga-ura before going to Mount Osore, so the order was a bit mixed up, but please forgive that.
From Sai Port (Tsugaru Strait Cultural Center Arsas), take the regular high-speed sightseeing boat to Hotokegaura (fare: 2500 yen round trip) on the New Shimokita V. The 30-minute cruise will take you to Hotokegaura. The boatl departed at 10:30AM.

仏ヶ浦観光遊覧船 乗り物

水がキレイなのに感激しました。ここは、奇岩が連なる秘境です。巨大で変わった形の岩がゴロゴロ並んでいて、奇岩には仏にちなんだ名前が付けられています。ここは極楽浄土だと思った人たちが名づけたのでしょうか。

I was amazed by how clean the water was. This hidden paradise features a series of bizarre rock formations with huge, strangely shaped rocks scattered all over the place. Each rock has a name related to Buddhism. I wonder if people who thought this was paradise named it that way.

（如来の首）
如来の首という岩の名前から推測するに、如来の横顔、でしょうか？　右側の少し出ているところが鼻のように見えます。

私にはヒヨコ?に見えるんですけどね。

(The head of the Buddha)
Judging from the name of the rock, "Nyorai's Head," perhaps it represents the profile of the Buddha. The slightly protruding part on the right side looks like a nose.
It looks like a chick to me, doesn't it?

仏ヶ浦 自然・景勝地

（恐山総門）
仏ヶ浦から車で１時間３０分ほど、一度訪れたかった日本三大霊場の一つ恐山に遂に来ました。

高野山、比叡山、恐山が日本三大霊場です。死者の集まるところとされているので、昔は怖くて絶対に行きたくないと思っていたのですが、最近は心境が変化してきたのか、怖いという先入観念がなくなり、それよりかは、一度自分の足で確かめてみたいという気持ちが強くなってきました。

日本三大霊場恐山の入山料は500円です。

After a 1 hour and 30 minute drive from Hotokegaura, I finally arrived at Mount Osore, one of Japan's three most sacred sites, a place I'd always wanted to visit.
Mount Koya, Mount Hiei, and Mount Osore are the three most sacred sites in Japan. They are considered places where the dead gather, so in the past I was too scared to visit. However, recently my feelings have changed. I no longer find it frightening. Instead, I feel a strong desire to see them for myself.
The entrance fee to Mount Osore, one of Japan's three most sacred sites, is 500 yen.

恐山菩提寺 寺・神社・教会

（恐山山門）
山門をくぐると両側に天然温泉があり、入場料以外の追加料金なしで入ることができます。進行方向に左側の建屋が女性用、右側の建屋が男性用になっています。白く白濁してややエメラルドの青みがかった100%かけ流しの熱々の硫黄泉です。

洗い場はないので、かけ湯してそのままざぶんと入らせていただきました。

Upon passing through the temple gate, you can find natural hot springs on both sides, which you can enter without any additional charge beyond the entrance fee. The building on the left is for women, and the building on the right is for men. The hot spring water is 100% free-flowing, milky white with a slightly emerald-blue tint, and is piping hot.
There was no washing area, so I just rinsed myself off and jumped straight into the bath.

遠景に見えるのが大尽山で、近景が凄い量の硫黄ガスが噴き出す地獄です。お賽銭が硫化水素で錆びて変色しています。火山活動のエネルギーが地面から溢れ出ています。

周囲の山にかこまれた平地に火山活動のエネルギーが集積して吹き出ている感じがします。

恐山の上にある宇曽利湖から水が平地に流れ出ています。人に生まれながらにして与えられている勇気のように。

In the distance you can see Mount Daijin, and in the foreground is a hellish landscape spewing out an incredible amount of sulfurous gas. The coins offered at the shrine are rusted and discolored due to hydrogen sulfide. The volcanic energy is overflowing from the ground.
It feels like the energy from volcanic activity is accumulating and erupting from this plain surrounded by mountains.
Water flows from Lake Usori, located atop Mount Osore, down to the plains, like the courage that humans are born with.

（極楽浜）
透き通ったエメラルドグリーンの湖、白い砂浜と点在する風車、静かな、どこかもの悲しさもある、再出発の場所といえそうな場所です。

地獄を通って、極楽浜に辿り着きます。苦しい経験を味わった後に救われる、そんなストーリー展開を暗示させる、癒しの地です。

何組かご夫婦をお見掛けしましたが、お子さんを亡くされたのかな、と思わせる雰囲気は確かにありました。

祈りは愛する人にきっと届く！

(Gokurakuhama)
With its crystal-clear emerald green lake, white sandy beaches, and scattered windmills, this quiet, somewhat melancholic place could be considered a place for a fresh start.
You pass through hell and arrive at Paradise Beach. It's a healing place that suggests being saved after hardship.
I saw several couples, and there was definitely an air about them that suggested they might have lost a child.
Your prayers will surely reach the person you love!

恐山菩提寺 寺・神社・教会

恐山から八戸へ。途中に東京電力原子力発電所で有名な東通村を社会見学してきました。立派な公共施設と道路が目を引きます。

We traveled from Mount Osore to Hachinohe. On the way, we made a field trip to Higashidori Village, famous for the Tokyo Electric Power Company's nuclear power plant. The impressive public facilities and roads were quite striking.

画家の東山魁夷氏や作家の司馬遼太郎氏が絶賛した種差海岸です。海のそばの芝生がキレイです。家族やカップルが時間を過ごすのにとてもいい場所です。

This is Tanesashi Coast, highly praised by painter Kaii Higashiyama and author Ryotaro Shiba. The lawn by the sea is beautiful. It's a great place for families and couples to spend time.

7/26（火）
八戸から車で１時間、新郷村に到着です。

一度来てみたかった「キリストの墓」です。幾多の人が信仰するあの偉大なるキリストの墓があると考えるだけで、ワクワクドキドキ、胸が高鳴ります。

昭和10年、茨城県の磯原市（現北茨城市）から訪れた竹内巨麿氏が、武内家の古文書をもとに「キリストの墓」を発見したとされています。

イエスキリストの遺言書とされた古文書によれば、イエスキリストは21歳のときに日本に渡り、12年間神学について修行を重ね33歳のときユダヤに帰って神の教えについて伝道を行ったが、その当時のユダヤ人たちはキリストの教えを受け入れず、キリストをとらえて十字架に磔刑に処さんとしました。しかし偶々イエスの弟イスキリが兄の身代わりとなりました。他方、十字架の磔刑からのがれたキリストは、艱難辛苦の旅をつづけて、再び日本の地を踏みこの戸来村に住居を定めて、106歳長寿をもって、この地に没しました。

歴史ロマンです。

July 26th (Tue)
We arrived in Shingo Village, about an hour's drive from Hachinohe.
This is the “Tomb of Christ”, a place I had always wanted to visit. Just thinking that it's the tomb of the great Christ, whom so many people believe in, filled me with excitement and anticipation.
In 1935, Mr. Kyomaro Takeuchi, who visited from Isohara City (now Kitaibaraki City) in Ibaraki Prefecture, is said to have discovered the “tomb of Christ" based on ancient documents of the Takeuchi family.
According to an ancient document believed to be Jesus Christ's last will and testament, Jesus traveled to Japan at the age of 21, spent 12 years studying theology, and returned to Judea at the age of 33 to preach God's teachings. However, the Jews at that time did not accept Christ's teachings and tried to arrest him and crucify him. Fortunately, Jesus' brother, Isukiri, sacrificed himself in Jesus's place. On the other hand, having escaped crucifixion, Christ continued his arduous journey and returned to Japan, settling in this village of Herai, where he died at the ripe old age of 106.
This is a historical romance.

キリストの墓 （キリストの里公園） 名所・史跡

公園には、イスラエル国とエルサレム市と新郷村の友好の証としてエルサレム市から寄贈された記念レリーフがあります。

寄贈された意図にはいろいろな意見があると思いますが、キリストの墓の信憑性をぐっと上げてくれるともいえそうです。

The park features a commemorative relief donated by the City of Jerusalem as a symbol of friendship between the State of Israel, the City of Jerusalem, and Shingo Village.
There may be various opinions on the intention behind the donation, but it could be said that it significantly increases the authenticity of the tomb of Christ.

キリストの墓 （キリストの里公園） 名所・史跡

こちらがイエスキリストを祀る十来塚、キリストの墓なのですね～！

毎年キリスト祭りが行われ、ナニャンドヤラの唄と踊りが奉納されます。

This is the Jūraizuka, the tomb of Jesus Christ!
Every year, a Christ Festival is held, with songs and dances of Nanyandyara offered as a dedication.

こちらが弟イスキリを祀る十来墓です。

This is the Jūrai Tomb, where the younger brother Isukiri is enshrined.

建物がキリストの墓伝承館で、新郷村に伝わるキリストをたたえる踊りやムーの編集長たちがキリスト伝説やピラミッド伝説について熱く語るDVDが放映されています。

The building houses the Christ's Tomb Folklore Museum, where DVDs are shown featuring dances praising Christ, passed down in Shingo Village, as well as interviews with editors-in-chief of Mu magazine passionately discussing the legends of Christ and the pyramids.

キリストの里伝承館 美術館・博物館

キリストの里公園から車で１時間３０分弱で、睡蓮沼に到着です。

睡蓮沼からの八甲田山の風景は素晴らしいです。特に初夏の睡蓮沼は素晴らしく、八甲田山の自然の力がやさしく包んでくれます。

八甲田山にはロープウェイを使って山頂まで上がるつもりだったのですが、前日に八甲田山ロープウェイのホームページを確認したところ、機械の故障で運休となっていたため、急遽、酸ヶ湯温泉から八甲田山を登山することにしました。

強風などで結構運休する印象なので、利用する場合は前日に確認する方がいいかと思います。

It took a little less than an hour and a half by car from Christ's Village Park to reach Suiren-numa (Water Lily Pond).
The view of Mount Hakkoda from Suiren-numa Pond is magnificent. Suiren-numa Pond in early summer is especially wonderful, and the natural power of Mount Hakkoda gently envelops you.
I had planned to take the ropeway up to the summit of Mount Hakkoda, but when I checked the Hakkoda Ropeway website the day before, I found it was closed due to a mechanical malfunction. So, I hastily decided to hike Mount Hakkoda from Sukayu Onsen instead.
The ropeway service seems to often be suspended due to strong winds and other factors, so it's best to check the schedule the day before if you plan to use it.

睡蓮沼 自然・景勝地

酸ヶ湯温泉の上部駐車場そばの鳥居が登山口になっていて、ここから登りはじめます。

The torii gate near the upper parking lot of Sukayu Onsen marks the trailhead, and I began my climb from here.

登山口からしばらく木の多い場所を歩くと、景色が開けた場所に出ます。この辺りからの南八甲田山連峰の眺めがよいです。

After walking through a wooded area for a while from the trailhead, I came to an open area with a great view. The view of the Southern Hakkoda Mountain Range from around here was excellent.

ガレ場が続きます。いかにも溶岩が流れ込んでできたという感じがします。

仙人岱湿原到着、ここでは八甲田清水があり天然水を汲むことができます。前に見えるのが山頂で、ここから山頂まで高度が上がっていきます。

I arrived at Sennintai Marshland, where you can find Hakkoda Shimizu spring water and collect natural spring water. The mountaintop is visible ahead, and from here the altitude increases towards the summit.

（仙人岱～鏡沼）
山の左側は薄い緑で右側は濃い緑になっています。日差しの関係で左側には雪が長く残るため木が生えないのですが、右側は木が生えるため、緑色の濃さが変わっています。

The left side of the mountain was light green, while the right side was dark green. Due to the sunlight, snow remained on the left side for a long time, preventing trees from growing there, but trees grew on the right side, resulting in the difference in the intensity of the green color.

鏡沼は、爆裂火口に水がたまってできた沼です。

ここまで来れば頂上はもうすぐです。

Kagami-numa is a pond formed when water accumulated in an explosive crater.
I was almost at the summit.

あいにく、ガスがかかっていて景色は見えませんでした。

頂上で昼食をとって、下山します。

Unfortunately, it was foggy and I couldn't see the scenery.
I had lunch at the summit and then descended.

八甲田山 自然・景勝地

（毛無岱）
この辺りは湿地帯になっており、一面にニッコウキスゲが咲いていてキレイです。仏ヶ浦に負けず、ここも浄土です。

秋に来ると紅葉がとってもキレイなところと言われていて、なるほどそうだろうなあと思わされます。

This area was a wetland, and it's beautiful with daylilies blooming all over. Just like Hotokegaura, this place was also a natural paradise.
It's said that the autumn foliage is incredibly beautiful here, and I can certainly see why.

酸ヶ湯温泉に下りてきました。

八甲田山から青森空港へ向かい、18:10発伊丹空港行きの飛行機で帰途につきました。

充実の青森夏旅、アメージングでした。

I came down to Sukayu Onsen.
I traveled from Mount Hakkoda to Aomori Airport and took a flight to Itami Airport departing at 6:10PM to begin my journey home.
My summer trip to Aomori was amazing and fulfilling.
