This is a record of my trip from July 22nd to 23rd, 2022, which focused on Hirosaki City, as part of a larger tour of power spots in Aomori Prefecture from July 22nd to 26th.

2022年7月23日（土）
伊丹空港7時45分発JAL2151便で青森空港にほぼ定刻通り9時30分ごろに到着、機内アナウンスで気流が悪いため伊丹空港に引き返すかもしれませんと言われ、それだけは勘弁～、と思いましたが、運よく予定通り青森空港に到着しました。
青森空港の旅客ターミナルのすぐ隣にレンタカー棟があり、レンタカーカウンターが並んでいます。

July 23, 2022 (Saturday)
I took JAL flight 2151, which departed Itami Airport at 7:45 AM, and arrived at Aomori Airport around 9:30 AM, almost on schedule. During the flight, an announcement mentioned the possibility of returning Itami due to turbulence, which made me anxious and think, "Please, anything but that!" but fortunately we arrived at Aomori Airport as planned.
Right next to the passenger terminal at Aomori Airport is a rental car building with several rental car counters.

青森空港からレンタカーで岩木山神社へ。１時間くらいで到着。

天気の良い日は岩木山神社から岩木山が見えるそうですが、あいにくのくもり空で岩木山らしきものは見えません。

岩木山神社の社殿は赤が基調になっています。なかなか粋な色使いです。

岩木山神社は津軽一宮として由緒正しいお社です。

We rented a car there and drove to Iwakiyama Shrine, which took about an hour to get there.

I heard that on a clear day you can see Mount Iwaki from Iwakiyama Shrine, but unfortunately, it was cloudy and I couldn't see anything resembling Mount Iwaki.
The main hall of Iwakiyama Shrine is predominantly red. It's quite a stylish use of color.
Iwakiyama Shrine is historically significant, considered the Ichinomiya (first-ranked shrine) of Tsugaru.

岩木山神社の本殿はご神体である岩木山を拝む形で配置されています。

The main hall of Iwakiyama Shrine is positioned to allow worshippers to pay homage to Mount Iwaki, which is regarded as the sacred object of worship.

岩木山神社の狛犬です。上下で一体の狛犬は珍しいと思います。筋骨隆々で活きているようなリアルさです。

These are guardian lion-dogs from Iwaki-san Shrine. I think it's rare to see guardian lion-dogs that are a single unit, one above the other. They are muscular and have a lifelike realism.

下向きで柱に隠れている狛犬は珍しい。

It's rare to see a guardian lion facing downwards and hidden behind a pillar.

岩木山神社から岩木山スカイラインで８合目休憩所に1時間足らずで到着です。

岩木山スカイラインは、全長9.8km、69カーブあり、天気がよければ北海道も見える絶景コース、ですが、この日は雲で何も見えません。

８合目から９合目まで、リフトに乗ります。

料金所で山の上はガスで景色がよくないですけどいいですかと言われましたが、ここまで来たのに行かないわけにはいきません。

岩木山スカイラインの通行量は普通自動車で1830円、リフト料金は往復1000円です。

From Iwakiyama Shrine, it takes less than an hour to reach the rest area at the 8th station via the Iwaki-san Skyline.
The Iwaki Mountain Skyline is a scenic 9.8 km route with 69 curves, offering breathtaking views of Hokkaido on a clear day. However on this particular day, clouds obscured the scenery.
We took the lift from the 8th station to the 9th station.
At the toll booth, I was warned that the summit view might be obscured by fog, but I didn’t want to turn back after coming so far.
The toll for a regular car on the Iwaki Mountain Skyline is 1,830 yen, and the lift fare is 1,000 yen for a round trip.

９合目から４０分ほどの登山で山頂に到着します。

山頂に到着してしばらくすると、雲と雲の間に入ったらしく、晴れてきました。

雲海と青空が織りなす、奇跡！と言うと言いすぎかもしれませんが、やっぱり奇跡！

写真に写っているお社は、岩木山神社の奥宮です。岩木山神社まで来たら折角なので、山頂の奥宮まで行くことをおススメします。

It took about 40 minutes to climb to the summit from the 9th station.
Shortly after arriving at the summit, it seemed we had moved between the clouds, and the weather cleared up.
It might be an exaggeration to call it a miracle, but seeing the sea of ??clouds belos and the blue sky above woven together was truly a miracle!
The shrine pictured is the inner sanctuary of Iwakiyama Shrine. If you've come all the way to Iwakiyama Shrine, I recommend going all the way to the inner sanctuary at the summit.

岩木山(津軽富士) 自然・景勝地

日本百名山岩木山の山頂、1625mです。山頂でしばしのパワーチャージです。

This is the summit of Mt. Iwaki, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, at 1625m. I took a short break at the summit to recharge.

リフトを使って８合目駐車場に戻ってきました。さっきの晴れはすぐに終わって雲が立ち込めてきました。　

We took the lift back down to the parking lot at the 8th station. The clear weather we had earlier quickly ended, and clouds began to gather.

岩木山から30分くらいで青森県側の白神山地観光の拠点の西目屋村にある道の駅津軽白神ビーチにしめやに到着です。

ここで遅い昼食をいただきます。この日は道の駅の駐車場でイベントが開催されていました。ブルーベリーなど地元の新鮮な農作物も売っています。

It took about 30 minutes from Mount Iwaki to reach the Tsugaru Shirakami Beach Nishimeya roadside station in Nishimeya Village, which serves as a base for sightseeing in the Shirakami Mountains on the Aomori Prefecture side.
We had a late lunch here. An event was taking place in the roadside station's parking lot, selling fresh local produce like blueberries.

道の駅のすぐそばにある白神山地ビジターセンターでは白神山地のことを学ぶことができます。白神山地ガイドマップ（日本語以外の各国語版もあります）も入手できます。

At the Shirakami Mountains Visitor Center next to the roadside station, you can learn about the Shirakami Mountains and obtain a Shirakami Mountains guide map (available in multiple languages ??other than Japanese).

ちょっと白神山地を体感したいと思い、津軽白神湖へ。西に向かうと急にザーザーと雨が降って来てきました。白神山地の入り口でもう既に幽玄なる神秘的な雰囲気です。次は白神山地をトレッキングしに行きたいと思いました。

Wanting to experience the Shirakami Mountains a bit more, I headed toward Lake Tsugaru-Shirakami. As I traveled west, it suddenly started raining heavily. Even at the entrance to the Shirakami Mountains, there was already a mystical and ethereal atmosphere. I decided that next time I'd like to go trekking in the Shirakami Mountains.

弘前市に戻る途中、岩木山のそばにある百沢温泉に立ち寄ります。

浴室にシャンプー・石鹸はありませんので持参か購入が必要です。

弘前市内のホテルへ向かい、チェックインです。

On the way back to Hirosaki City, we'll stop by Hyakusawa Onsen, located near Mount Iwaki.
Shampoo and soap are not provided in the bathroom, so youll need to bring your own or purchase them.
We headed to our hotel in Hirosaki city and checked in.

屋台が並ぶかだれ横丁で夕食をいただきます。早い時間に営業終了する店が多かったのですが、お目当てのお店「日向ぼっこ」は開いていました。

We had dinner at Kadare Yokocho, a street lined with food stalls. Many of the shops had already closed, but our target restaurant, "Hinata Bokko," was still open.

色んな店で注文して自席で食べる屋台スタイルです。

日向ぼっこではローカールフードをいろいろと注文しましたが、ほたてみそ焼きが美味でした。

It's a street-food-style restaurant where you order from various stalls and eat at your table.
At Hinatabokko, we ordered a variety of local dishes, but the grilled scallops with miso were especially delicious.

2022年7月24日（日）
午前中はホテル客室でweb会議をして、午後から旅行再開です。レンタルwifiがあれば、旅行先でも会議ができてしまう、便利な時代になったものです。

弘前市でお世話になったアートホテル弘前は12:00までチェックアウトを延長できるので、午前中に部屋で用事を済ませたい場合にはおススメです。意外とチェックアウトの時間を遅くできるホテルは少ないので貴重なホテルだと思います。

弘前市から田んぼアートを見るために、田舎館村に向かいます。

この建物の高層階が見学会場です。

July 24, 2022 (Sunday)
I had a web conference in my hotel room this morning, before resuming my trip in the afternoon. It's amazing how convenient things have become; with rental Wi-Fi, you can even hold meetings while traveling.
The Art Hotel Hirosaki, where I stayed in Hirosaki City, allows guests to extend check-out time until 12:00 PM, whih I recommend if you want to take care of some errands in your room in the morning. Surprisingly, not many hotels offer late check out, so this is a valuable feature.
I then headed to Inakadate Village from Hirosaki City to see the famous rice paddy art.
The upper floors of this building serve as the venue for the tour.

色が違うのは、稲の種類が違うからで、測量してどこにどの種類の稲を植えるかを決めて作られています。

It feels like we're not in Aomori anymore!
The different colors in the rice paddies come from planting various types of rice. The fields are surveyed to determine where to plant each type of rice.

田舎館村で弥生時代の水田跡が発見されたことを記念した田んぼアートです。

This rice paddy art commemorates the discovery of Yayoi period rice paddy remains in Inakadate Village.

こちらは小石を敷き詰めて描いた石アート、寅年はやっぱり寅さん。

This is a stone art piece made by arranging pebbles; of course, it's Tora-san for the Year of the Tiger.
