日本百名山・開聞岳登拝～9月24日は開聞岳の日～

熊本県人吉市在住の知人を訪ねる予定があり、せっかくなので鹿児島のパワースポットを巡礼することにしました。
春分の日に霧島神宮・鹿児島神宮を訪拝、開聞岳の日の9月24日に開聞岳を登拝し、記憶に残る日になりました。

I visited Kirishima Shrine and Kagoshima Shrine on the vernal equinox, and climbed Mount Kaimon on September 24th, the day of Mount Kaimon, making it a memorable day.

鹿児島空港からレンタカーで霧島神宮へ
今日は秋分の日、神社参りには絶好の日です。
神主さんと巫女さんが秋分の日にちなんだ儀式を執り行っていました。

Driving from Kagoshima airport to Kirishima Shrine. Holiday ritual was carried out.
A Shinto priest and shrine maiden were performing a ceremony related to the autumnal equinox.

霧島神宮 寺・神社・教会

霧島神宮本宮から車で30分くらいのところにある、霧島神宮古宮跡、正式名称は「天孫降臨神籬斎場（てんそんこうりんひもろぎさいじょう）」といい、重要なご神事が行われる雰囲気のある場所です。

Located about 30 minutes by car from the main shrine of Kirishima Shrine is the site of the old Kirishima Shrine, officially known as "Tenson Korin Himorogi Saijo," a place with an atmosphere that suggests important Shinto rituals are performed there.

霧島神宮 寺・神社・教会

高千穂峰山頂から遷した磐座、厳かな雰囲気を感じます。

The sacred rock formation, moved from the summit of Mt. Takachiho, feelig a solemn atmosphere.

霧島神宮本宮から霧島温泉さくらさくら温泉に行って、日帰り温泉を楽しみました。源泉かけ流し、黒い泥が含まれた、黒色の珍しい色の温泉です。

その後、大隅国一宮鹿児島神宮に移動しました。参道沿いの駐車場から本殿までの上り坂の途中の楠が見事でした。
鹿児島神宮は10年以上ぶりの２度目の訪拝です。

I went from Kirishima Shrine's main sanctuary to Kirishima Onsen Sakura Sakura Onsen and enjoyed a day trip to the hot springs. The spring water flows directly from the source and contains black mud, giving it an unusual black color.
After that, I moved on to Kagoshima Shrine, the Ichinomiya (first-ranked shrine) of Osumi Province. The camphor trees along the uphill path from the parking lot to the main shrine were magnificent.
This is my second visit to Kagoshima Shrine, the first being over 10 years ago.

鹿児島神宮 寺・神社・教会

鹿児島神宮から鹿児島市内に移動、車で１時間ぐらいかかりました。
鹿児島の有名百貨店山形屋の駐車場に車を止めて、ちょっと遅いランチです。
人生初の鹿児島ラーメンです。豚骨ラーメンですが、あっさりとして美味しい。

1 hour driving to Kagoshima city center. This is my first time trying Kagoshima ramen. It's tonkotsu ramen, but it's light and delicious.

車で仙巌園まで移動します。仙巌園手前でやや渋滞していました。
桜島を望む絶景の庭園です。ちょうど雲がかからず桜島がきれいに見えました。
島津藩主が毎日この庭園を散歩してスケールの大きな構想を練っていた姿が思い浮かべつつ、雄大な桜島の眺めにしばし見とれていました。

We traveled to Sengan-en Garden by car. There was some traffic congestion just before reaching Sengan-en Garden.
This garden offers a spectacular view of Sakurajima. The clouds were just clear, allowing us to see Sakurajima beautifully.
I found myself lost in thought, imagining the Shimazu clan lord strolling through this garden every day, formulating grand plans, while I gazed for a while at the magnificent view of Sakurajima.

仙巌園とゴールデンカムイのコラボ期間中で、それ目当てと思しき人（私もその一人です）をチラホラ見かけました。
仙巌園内に配置された９人の登場人物のパネルを写真にとって、体験施設受付に提出すると、もれなくステッカーをゲットできます。

During the collaboration period between Sengan-en Garden and Golden Kamuy, I saw quite a few people who seemed to be there specifically for that reason (I was one of them).
If you take a photo of the panels featuring the nine characters placed within Sengan-en Garden and submit it to the reception desk at the experience facility, you'll receive a sticker.

開聞岳２合目（登山道入り口）Mt. Kaimon 2nd station
開聞岳登山者無料駐車場に車を駐車し、駐車場から５分ほど歩くと二合目の入り口があります。駐車場と二合目の間のトイレが最後のトイレで、入口からはトイレはありません。ここから頂上までは一本道なので、迷うことありませんでした。
入口から頂上まで4キロ程度ですが、高低差が900m近くあり、傾斜が急なところがところどころあります。

※通過時間は健康な一般男性（プロ登山家などではない）が歩いた参考時間です。

Mt. Kaimon 2nd Station (Entrance to the hiking trail)
We parked our car in the free parking lot for climbers of Mt. Kaimon, and after a five-minute walk from the parking lot, we reached the entrance to the second station. The toilets between the parking lot and the second station are the last toilets available; there are no toilets from the entrance onwards. From here to the summit, it's a single path, so I didn't get lost.
The distance from the entrance to the summit is about 4 kilometers, but there is an elevation difference of nearly 900 meters, and there are steep slopes in some places.

２合目からずっとひたすら登りです。木に囲まれていて、視界が開けるところはなく、単調さは否定できません。

中央遠くに見えるのは桜島です。
9合目当りから頂上までがやや傾斜が急です。はしごとロープが設置されているので助かります。

The volcano you see in the distance in the center is Sakurajima.
The slope is quite steep from around the 9th station to the summit. Ladders and ropes are provided, which is helpful.

頂上に到着しました。
頂上は開けておらず、自然と登山客が接近するシチュエーションで、持参した朝食を食べながら２人の登山客と世間話をしました。
一人は、仙台から来た鹿児島国体の事務局の仕事で鹿児島市に来たという女性で、せっかく鹿児島まで来たので、是非開聞岳に登ってみたいと思いました、と素敵な笑顔で語ってくださいました。月山の手ぬぐいを出して、月山、羽黒山、湯殿山の三山巡りのことを話しました。羽黒山、湯殿山に行ったことがあり、懐かしくなります。今年の異常な暑さの影響で、いつもは今頃は東北では紅葉が始まっているのに、全然まだそんな気配もないそうです。
もう一人は地元の人と思しき男性、桜井識子さんの本に開聞岳が紹介されているので是非読んでみてください、開聞岳がどんな山かがわかります、と教えてくださいました。

I have reached the summit.
The summit wasn't open, so I found myself in a situation where hikers naturally came into close proximity. I ate the breakfast I had brought with me and chatted with two other hikers.
One of the women, who had come to Kagoshima City from Sendai for work related to the Kagoshima National Sports Festival, told me with a lovely smile. Since she had come all the way to Kagoshima, she really wanted to climb Mount Kaimon. She pulled out a hand towel with Mt. Gassan on it and talked about the three mountains of Gassan, Hagurosan, and Yudonosan. I've been to Hagurosan and Yudonosan before, so it brought back fond memories. Due to the unusually hot weather this year, the leaves usually start to change color in Tohoku around this time of year, but there's no sign of that yet.
Another person, a man who seemed to be a local, told me that Mt. Kaimon is featured in a book by Shikiko Sakurai. He recommended that I read it to get a sense of what kind of mountain it is.

南を見ると、屋久島も見えます。頂上は結構風があります。

開聞岳の標高が924mであるのにちなんで9月24日は開聞岳の日とされているそうです。イベントなどは特になかったものの下山途中で多くの登山客とすれ違いました。

September 24th is apparently designated as Kaimon-dake Day, in honor of the mountain's elevation of 924 meters. Although there weren't any special events, I passed many hikers on my way down.

せっかくここまで来たので薩摩国一宮枚聞神社を参拝しました。枚聞神社のご神体は、開聞岳です。

I visited Hirakiki Shrine, listed as the first-rank shrine of Satsuma (old-named Kagoshima) in ancient Japanese rule book named Engishiki(an ancient rule book).
The sacred object of worship at Hirakiki Shrine is Mt. Kaimon.
