パリを歩く(5.2) 奇跡のメダイ教会へ行く。いや，教会ではなく裏庭です。すてきな公園です。

Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Médaille-miraculeuse　に行きました。メダイ，メダイユ，メダル（英語読み）といろいろと言い方があるようです。この教会，またまた，入口で工事をしていました。（数年前は大工事で、奇跡の間ダルをもらうのにちょっと離れた教会まで行かされました。なつかしい思い出です。）
でも，中には入らず，ぐるっとまわって,裏庭に。すてきな公園になっているのです。

Le Jardin du Potager

La construction del' Hospice des Incurables fut entreprise en 1634 sous la conduite de l'architecte Christophe Gamard, grâce aux financements de multiples donateurs dont l'abbé Joullet de Châtillon, le cardinal F. de La Rochefoucauld et plusieurs membres de la famille Turgot.

La chapelle, dont la toiture se distingue par un revêtement d'ardoises, occupe une position centrale. De part et d'autre, les anciens bâtiments de l'hospice prennent la forme de deux grandes croix de Jérusalem qui étaient destinées l'une aux hommes et l'autre aux femmes. Les Filles de la Charité de Saint Vincent de Paul y accueillirent pendant plus de deux siècles des personnes incurables dans des conditions d'admission strictement définies: avoir des maux invétérés et qu'on ne pût espérer guérir, avoir au moins vingt ans, être pauvre, sans rentes, revenus ou autre biens, être hors d'état de gagner sa vie et être de bonnes moeurs. Parmi 4 les personnages ayant terminé leur vie à l'hospice, Rosalie Lamorlière, dernière servante de la reine Marie-Antoinette à la prison de la Conciergerie.

En 1879, l'Hospice fut repris par l'Assistance Public des Hôpitaux de Paris. Sa transformation en hôpital général impliqua des changements structurels importants et l'ajout progressif de divers bâtiments annexes modifiant sensiblement l'aspect général des lieux. Sous le nom d'Hôpital Laennec, il fonctionnera jusqu'en 1999, date à laquelle ses services furent transférés dans le nouvel Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou.

A la suite d'une consultation publique, l'Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris céda en 2002 le site en vue d'un réaménagement d'ensemble. Le programme consista :

- en la réhabilisation des bâtiments de l'ancien hospice qui, après supression des adjonctions, ont retrouvé leur configuration de la fin du 18ème, Cédés à la compagnie d'assurance Allianz, ils vont désormais accueillir des bureaux.

- le long des rues de Sèvres et Vaneau, en la réalisation, par le promoteur immobilier Cogedim , de logements libres et sociaux, d'une maison pour personnes âgées dépendantes, d'une résidence étudiante et de commerces.

Enfin, à reMplacement du présent panneau d'information, l'ancien jardin potager de l'hospice a été restitué après démolition des construtions annexes qui l'occupaient. Il est désormais ouvert au public dans le cadre d'une convention avec la ville de Paris.

The vegetable garden

The construction of the Hospice des Incurables was undertaken in 1634 under the leadership of the architect Christophe Gamard, thanks to the funding of multiple donors including the abbot Joullet de Châtillon, Cardinal F. de La Rochefoucauld and several members of the Turgot family.

The chapel, whose roof is distinguished by a slate covering, occupies a central position. On both sides, the old buildings of the hospice take the form of two large crosses of Jerusalem that were intended for men and women. For more than two centuries, the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul welcomed incurable people under conditions of strictly defined admission: to have inveterate evils and that one could not hope to cure, to be at least twenty years old, to be poor without income, income or other property, being unable to earn a living and be of good morals. Among the four characters who ended their lives at the hospital, Rosalie Lamorlière, last servant of Queen Marie Antoinette in the prison of the Conciergerie.

In 1879, the Hospice was taken over by the Public Assistance of the Hospitals of Paris. Its transformation into a general hospital involved major structural changes and the gradual addition of various ancillary buildings that significantly changed the general appearance of the premises. Under the name of Laennec Hospital, it will operate until 1999, when its services were transferred to the new Georges Pompidou European Hospital.

Following a public consultation, the Public Assistance of the Hospitals of Paris ceded in 2002 the site with a view to an overall redevelopment. The program consisted of:

- in the rehabilitation of the buildings of the former hospice which, after suppression of the additions, have found their configuration of the end of the 18th, yielded to the insurance company Allianz, they will now accommodate offices.

- along the streets of Sèvres and Vaneau, in the realization, by the property developer Cogedim, of free and social housing, a home for dependent elderly people, a student residence and shops.

Finally, when this information board was moved, the old kitchen garden of the hospice was restored after demolition of the ancillary structures that occupied it. It is now open to the public as part of an agreement with the city of Paris.
