  『海上保安資料館』と、海上保安庁の（公開可能な範囲の上での）全般的な資料が展示されている資料館、と思いきや、実質2001年...  続きを読む12月22日に九州南西海域で発生した工作船の事件にかかる自沈し引き上げた工作船そのもの、及び船内から回収された武器等が展示にのみ焦点を充ててている資料館、と言える。 無料で拝観でき、展示の説明の多くは日本語であるが、ところどころで英語・中国語・韓国語も併記されている。引き上げた工作船の実態を観察するため、一部階段を利用しないと鑑賞できない箇所があるが、それ以外の箇所は出入口と同じ床の高さであるため、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方でも気軽に利用できる。常に職員が常駐しているため、説明を聞きながら資料館を周ることも出来る。 四方を海に囲まれた日本は、毎日のように海上で何らかの脅威に晒されている。ニュースで視聴するものの、こうした事件の痕跡を間近で見ると、その脅威の実態をまざまざと体感することが出来るし、毎日のように対峙する海上保安庁に改めて敬意と感謝を抱かずにはいられない。一個人としてすぐに何かをしなければならない、というわけではないが、海上保安庁が常にどのような脅威と対峙しているか、それを知るだけでも非常に勉強になる資料館だと思う。 Despite its name, which may suggest a general museum introducing the Japan Coast Guard and its publicly available materials, this museum is in fact almost entirely focused on a single incident: the foreign spy vessel that was scuttled and later salvaged after an encounter in the waters southwest of Kyushu on December 22, 2001. The core exhibits consist of the actual recovered vessel itself and weapons and equipment retrieved from inside it. Admission is free. Most explanatory panels are written in Japanese, but key sections include English, Chinese, and Korean translations. In order to closely observe certain parts of the salvaged vessel, visitors must use stairs in some areas; however, aside from these sections, the exhibition floors are level with the entrance. As a result, the museum is generally accessible and easy to navigate for visitors using wheelchairs or with mobility impairments. Staff members are always present, and it's possible to tour the museum while listening to their explanations. As a nation surrounded by the sea on all sides, Japan faces maritime threats on a near-daily basis. While such incidents are often seen only through news reports, viewing the physical evidence of this event up close makes the reality of those threats strikingly tangible. It also naturally inspires renewed respect and gratitude toward the Japan Coast Guard, which confronts such dangers on a constant basis. Although visitors are not expected to take immediate action as individuals, simply learning what kinds of threats the Coast Guard regularly faces makes this museum a highly educational and thought-provoking place to visit.  閉じる
