A shop with a fair-trade principle which introduces
products made by the Karen people
できることなら全部買って持って帰りたい....
I wish I could buy them all and take them back home....

are everywhere.
「ATM」とあるのでかろうじて銀行である
ことがわかる。

The ATM sign is the only clue telling
that this is a bank.
初にして最後、庶民の足「サムロー」に乗る。
ホテルまで50バーツは高いのか安いのか....（？？）

The only three-wheeler taxi ride I had
during this trip.

みんな働き者。

2. ネチネチ食感の甘いお菓子を中心に
ココナツ風味のものが沢山

Coconut flavoured sweets with sticky
texture seem to be soul food for the
locals.
3. コバラがへって思わずパクついたおやつ。
「ココナツ風味・金時入りすあま」って感じ。
これもまた美味！

Ummmm...I could have another one or two
of this kind....yum!
4. ガツンと来る食べ物も沢山

More filling ones are sold, too!
5. 北タイのイチゴは全国に出荷

同行の通訳/現地コーディネーターT氏に一言タイ語講座を
お願いした。

Ｋ：「辛くしないで下さいってなんと言えばいいですか？」
T氏：「マイ・ペッで大丈夫です。」

意気揚々とソムタム（青いパパイヤのサラダ）屋へ。

At the food court in the Airport Plaza shopping center 1

The moment to fulfill my big craving for green papaya
salad had come. (The very last day)

I (thought I ) politely asked the shop lady to make it
"NOT hot" using the phrase I learned from Mr. T, the
interpreter/local coordinator.
K：「マイ　ぺッ」
お店の姉さん：「....（無言でうなづきドレッシングを作り始める）

（.......あ、あれっ？なんか今、緑色のが入ったけど...
気のせい？気のせいだね。）

姉さん、素早い動きで次々と調味料を加え千切りパパイヤ
をまぜる

The lady (I thought) nodded, and quickly started the
seasoning of this salad, putting a little portion of
everything into the bowl. At one point, I thought I
saw something small, thin and green...but maybe
it was my imagination....
最終日まで楽しみに取っておいたソムタム。

だのに、だのに、やっぱりペッペッぺ〜！！！！

NOT! Hot again, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaHHHHHHHH!
出されたものを残すことは食いしん坊のプライドが許さないので、
辛くても泣きながらでもとにかく完食。
（単に食い意地が張っている）

Although I couldn't help tearing, I finished it
all taking a long time.

口中火事を消してくれたのは、やはりココナツ風味のデザート。

世の中うまくできている。

天と地。土と水。光と影。男と女。唐辛子とココナツ。

My mouth was on fire, so needed to extinguish it by
coconut-flavoured sweet. It worked so well.

Heaven and earth, water and soil, light and shadow,
men and women, chili pepper and coconut...
They make senses, indeed.
タイ語が自由に使えたら、いろんなトッピングや混ぜ方で
食べられるのだろうが...ちょっと悔しい。
でも、十分楽しいからいいや。

Next time, I want to be albe to speak a little more
Thai so that I can order food as I wish, or
at least as something close to what I wish...
多色のお米。どんな味つけで食べるんだろう。

Colored rice. How do they eat it? (No time
to keep observing others.)
始めて見た。「銀行」ならぬ「金行」。

Gold shop.
ホテル近くのカフェバー。カクテルもおいしそう。

Nice cafe and bar near the hotel. Looks like
one on the beach.
募金文化が根付いている−子どもを支援するNGO団体

Culture of donation is widespread and deep-rooted.
チェンマイ最後の夜は、中華料理(潮州料理？）で〆。

Last supper in Chiang Mai at a Chinese (Chaozhou?)
restaurant.
象さんが画いた花の絵。上手すぎます...。ちょっとマリメッコ風？

A painting drawn by an elephant....amazing!
夜中にチェンマイを発ち、再びソウル経由で新千歳へ

In-flight meal again. Heading back home.
やはりそこはまだ白い世界だった....。

It was still so white everywhere.
