2025年10月〜11月の、ホーチミン⇄フーコック島の往復チケットを予約しました。同路線にはベトナム航空も就航していますが、フライトスケジュール上VietJetの方がフーコック島の滞在時間が長く取れるので、VietJetを選びました。

初のVietJetを楽しみにしていたところ、1ヶ月前になってVietJetから、ホーチミン→フーコック島のフライトがキャンセルになったので、翌日の便に振り替えた旨連絡がありました。既に現地ホテルや送迎等の予約を済ませており、これではスケジュールが成り立たないと思ったところ、「フライトの変更やキャンセルはこちらから」とURLが添えられていたため、キャンセル手続きを行いました。すると翌々日頃に、「Your request is rejected」との案内が届きました。どうやら、元々購入したチケットがキャンセル不可だったことが理由だとわかりました。

こちらの都合であればキャンセル不可なのは理解できますが、航空会社都合でのスケジュール変更なので、腑に落ちず、色々と調べたところ、航空会社都合でのsignificant（重大）な変更は、キャンセルポリシーが適用されないという国際標準の判例があるようなので、カスタマーサービスに対して礼節をわきまえた文章（以下ご参考）でキャンセルを求めたところ、往復チケットのキャンセルが受け入れられました。柔軟な対応に感謝しつつ、胸を撫で下ろしました。


Dear VietJet Customer Service,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint and request an immediate refund regarding my Booking Reference xxxxx.

Originally, I purchased a round-trip ticket with VietJet, including the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc on October 31 at 18:30. Without my consent, this flight was rescheduled to the next day at 05:50. Such a change makes my planned trip impossible, as my travel schedule has already been fixed and cannot accommodate either an earlier or later flight.

As a result, I had no choice but to cancel my VietJet booking and purchase tickets from another airline. However, I was informed that my cancellation request was rejected under VietJet’s “refund policies,” which seems to apply only in cases of voluntary cancellation by the passenger.

This is not my situation. The schedule change was made by VietJet, not by me. According to international standards of air passenger rights, when an airline makes a significant involuntary schedule change, the passenger is entitled to a full refund, regardless of the original fare conditions.

Therefore, I strongly insist that VietJet immediately process a full refund for my booking. I expect your prompt confirmation of the refund and the timeline for reimbursement.
