今回初めて大台ケ原（東大台）に入りました。
周回線歩道を八の字にゆっくり歩いて4時間かかりました。
そしてこれを機にその後、大台ケ原を10数回通うことになりました。
自然にほとんど縁のない医療の世界で仕事をしていた私の人生が大
きく自然系レンジャーの世界にシフトすることになりました。

大台ケ原のトレッキングに入る前に、駐車場にビジターセンターが
ありますので、そこで学習してから歩くことをお勧めします。
またここでは重要なマナーを学ぶことも出来ます。

周回線歩道沿いには自然解説板が１７基あり、写真、イラストなど
まじえて解説がありますのでゆっくり歩きながら楽しめます。

東大台には、日出ヶ岳や大蛇ぐらなど主要な展望地があります。

森林の衰退が進んでいるため、環境省により2007年（平成19年）9月1日から西大台地区において入山規制が実施されている。入山するには、あらかじめ申し込んで有料の認定証を取得し、入山当日か前日夕方に大台ヶ原ビジターセンターで講義（西大台事前レクチャー）を受ける必要がある。一度講義を受けた場合、同一年に2回以上西大台地区に入山する場合は2回目以降の講義は省略できる。日出ヶ岳や大蛇グラがある東大台地区は入山規制の対象外となっている。

ここからは年に数度、富士山を見ることが出来ます。

日出ヶ岳展望台に到着しここで昼食をとりました。

大台ヶ原は世界的に見ても多雨地帯であり、これが植物や動物など生物の生育と分布に大きな影響を与えている。そのため吉野熊野国立公園のなかでも特に規制の厳しい特別保護地区に指定されている。日出ヶ岳の直下、正木嶺や正木ヶ原ではトウヒの立ち枯れと笹原が見られる。これは、1959年（昭和34年）に近畿地方を襲った伊勢湾台風がそれまで地表を覆っていた森林を破壊し、その木々が流出したことによりそれまで地面に自生していたコケ類が衰退、代わって、ササ類が繁茂し始めたためである。

大蛇ぐらに到着しました。
