2011年3月11日の東日本大震災の津波によって被災し倒壊した、かつての女川の治安を守る拠点であった交番。現在は当時の津波の恐ろしさを今に伝える遺構として整備されており、年中無休、無料で誰でも見ることが出来る（倒壊した建物へは立ち入られない）。
遺構の周囲は円形の通路となっており、遺構の下部から上部まで見渡せるよう緩やかなスロープとなっているため、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方でも難なく見ることが出来る。通路には震災前の姿と、震災発生直後、震災以降の歩みがパネル掲示されている（全て日本語であるため、広く海外の人にも知ってもらうために、少なくとも英語の併記がほしい）。
頑丈な建物がこうも簡単にも倒壊する、という、津波の恐ろしさを肌身に感じる遺構である。

This police box, which was once a center of public safety in Onagawa, was damaged and collapsed by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. It's now maintained as a reminder of the horror of the tsunami, and is open to the public free of charge, year-round (the collapsed building itself is inaccessible).
The remains are surrounded by a circular pathway with a gentle slope that allows visitors to see from the bottom to the top, making it easy for wheelchair users and other visitors with disabilities to view the remains. In the passageway, there are panels showing what the building looked like before the earthquake and what it looked like immediately after and after the earthquake. Since almost all of the panel descriptions are in Japanese, I think it necessary to include English so that the panel could be more widely known to people overseas.
The remain shows how easily a sturdy building can be destroyed, and the horror of the tsunami can be felt firsthand.
