Empire State Building

Designed by the internationally famous firm of architects,
Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates, P.C. of New York City, and
completed in 1931, The Empire State Building is an architectural
splendor" which overlooks many architecturally significant buildings
in Manhattan.

The exterior of the world's most famous building is made of
Indiana limestone and granite trimmed with mullions of sparkling
stainless steel which reach from the sixth floor to the
pinnacle of The Building. Whether seen in sunlight or moonlight,
the tower glistens magnificently.
From the top of the internationally famous landmark, one can
take an unsurpassed architectural tour of New York City. Centrally
located in the heart of Manhattan, it presents unprecedented
views to all four sides, North, East, South and West.

Spectacular Night View

The incomparable night view from the top of The Empire State
Building is a fantasy of lights and stars sparkling and dancing
against a panoramic background of darkness.
The upper 30 floors of The Empire State Building are illuminated
nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. as a Salute to the Nation in the
Beginning of it's Third Century. The Empire State Building dominates
the New York skyline both night and day.
The floodlights, which are distinguished for their high intensity,
long throw and fine beam control capabilities, are strategically
located on various setbacks of The Building to achieve spectacular
illumination without interfering with the famous nighttime view
from The Empire State Building Observatories.

Ticket Office on Concourse Level

The ticket office for The Empire State Building Observatories is
located on the Concourse, one level below the Main Lobby, and is
reached by modern, high-speed escalators. Cheerfully decorated in
bright and pleasing colors, the ticket office features a photographic
montage of many of the V.I.P.'s who have visited the world's most
famous building.

around the horizon an awe inspiring view

From the top of The Empire State Building,
high above the sidewalks of New York,
one looks North to the Bronx and South to
Wall Street, the tip of the Battery and
to the ocean beyond. To the West are
Staten Island, and the wide expanse of
New Jersey; to the East, Queens and Brooklyn.
The vast sweep of the City with its
broad avenues and winding rivers stretches
as far as the eye can see. The sprinkling
of lakes and parks offers a warm contrast
to the pattern of man made skyscrapers.

NORTH
To the North, the New York City Public Library, Rockfeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, George Washington Bridge, and Yankee Stadium are among the landmarks which one view.
Central Park, the landscaped emerald of New York, and be seen nestling in the middle of multi-storied apartment buildings.

EAST
Looking toward the East River, one is impressed by the Chrysler Building and the United Nations tower, as well as by the Whitestone, Triborough and Throngs Neck Bridges and Long Island Sound.

SOUTH
Looking to the South, Wall Street skyscrapers like the Marine Midland, Chase Manhattan and 120 Broadway are visible as are such famous structures as the Woolworth Building, the Flatiron Building and the Toy Center.
Also visible are the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg and Verrazano Bridges, the Stature of Liberty, and the Upper and Lower Bays.

WEST
The view toward the West - the Hudson River and New Jersey - includes Macy's, the Madison Square Garden, and the 57-story office building, One Penn Plaza.
