Exploring Yokohama in 2010

I am from Zushi, so I feel sympathy and close to Yokohama from childhood. I explored Motomachi area this time. Some were new and others were familiar.

First, I visited the old foreign residence area. This house is Bluff #18. It was made in the late of Taisho period, after the great Tokyo earthquake. Until 1990's, it was used for the house for the catholic priest.

Inside of Bluff #18, nice classic style.

I do not remember well, some kind of old style logo in this house.

It was the house of diplomat, made for Sadatsuchi Uchida, the diplomat in Maiji Era, designed by American architecture. It was built at Shibuya ward in Tokyo and moved here in 1997.

It was really classic style inside.

I ate a cup of ice cream, made in Yokohama.

It was Berrick Hall, made for the British trading merchant B.R.Berrick in 1930.

Outside was a bit modern style than other foreign houses, but inside was good with calm and classic atmosphere.

Nice bathroom with tiles. I liked this colour.

I would like to touch this...

The next was the Ehrisman House, made for the silk trader Fritz Ehrisman (from Switzerland) in 1926, designed by czech architecture Antonin Raymond. Compare to other big houses, it looks small and cozy.

This was the British house of yokohama city, made for the house of British council in 1937.

This is the Yamate house #111, made for American J.E. Raffin, designed by J.H. Morgan, same as Berrick Hall.

It was classic and chic style inside.

I could see some stray cats around in Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery. This white cat has eyes with different colours.

This is Mazu Temple in Yokohama China town. Mazu is the Goddes of fishery and sailing in Taoism.

This is the one of famous attractions in Yokohama China Town, Guan Yu's mausoleum.

I walked a lot that day and the heels of my shoes were broken, so I bought this colorful pumps in Hush Puppies in Motomachi shopping street. I still wear this sometimes.
