真夏の温泉＆原生林～別府・久住の旅＜Hot Spring Bathing & Forest Walking, Oita＞

小旅行に出かけるのは、おおよそ音楽ライヴを兼ねてというのが多くなったような気がします。
The purposes of my trips seem to enjoy music gigs these days.

ということで、今回訪ねたのは真夏の別府温泉。
I visited Beppu hot spring in the middle of summer.

半露天風呂がついたお部屋でまったりと過ごし、夜はソロピアノコンサートで楽しみました。
I relaxed a lot and enjoyed bathing in the private ONSEN bath tub attached to the room I stayed in then solo piano concert.

夜半までライヴ打ち上げ。
I talked with the pianist until midnight. Three yrs have passed since I listened to his performance though I'm listening to CDs almost everyday.

夜の明ける前の露天に飛び込み、お風呂。
Jumped into the hot spring before dawn,

朝起きて、またお風呂。
bathed again in the morning

お肌つるつる
My skin turned smooth!

宿をあとにして、海抜0mから一気に8～900mの久住へ。
After leaving the hotel, I went up to Kuju Highlands, from sea level up to 800~900m high.

温帯林のグリーンシャワーを浴びて深呼吸。
Taking deep breaths in green shower in the temperate primeval forest,

林の中を少し歩き、男池のブルーの湧水をいただき
walking in the woods, getting some spring water from Oike well,

それから高原野菜をいっぱい買って帰りました。
I bought some fresh vegetables raised by the water.

人々はそのあたりをパワースポットと呼ぶらしいのですが、白蛇は連れが道端で実際に見たと言っております。
People would call the places around as a power spot. My partner told me that he saw a real white snake on the roadside.

白蛇神社に行く必要もなく関心もないのですが、幸運なことがあるといいですね。
Not being interested in such a saying nor White Snake Shrine, I hope good luck for me.

温泉とライヴ以外は行き当たりばったり。
The trip was unplanned except the hot spring and the gig.

新鮮な空気に体は嬉しがっております。
I feel my full body pleased with relaxation.

くじゅうを大分のプリトヴィッツェと呼びたいです。
I'd like to call Kuju Highlands as Plitvice(in Croatia) of Oita.

まずは道の駅バサロへ。
For the first time I visited Basaro, a farmers' market in south Fukuoka

両親にフレッシュなピオーネを送ります。
to send my parents fresh grapes.

カブトムシやクワガタも売っています。
They sell beetles and stag beetles.

お目当ては巨峰ソフトクリーム
I have a weakness for ice cream. This is grape ice cream.

柿の葉茶を始めて飲んでみました。
It was my first sip of persimmon leaf tea.

渋い！氷を入れて少し薄めて飲むとおいしいです。
Bitter! It's good with ice cubes.

杷木から九重まで高速に乗り、飯田高原を目指します。
I headed for Handa highlands, getting on a highway from Haki to Kokonoe.

川沿いの道は緑に囲まれて、いい感じです。
I like to drive along the river in green woods.

車のエアコンを切って窓を開けたら一気に空気がおいしくなりました。
Turing off air-condition and opening the door, fresh and cool air covered on me.

渓谷沿いの道は意外にも車が少ないのでした。
Unexpectedly, the traffic was so smooth.

夢の大吊橋が見えました。
I saw that famous Yume Otsurihasshi, a big suspension bridge.

観光客が多いと聞いていましたが、まばら。
I had heard that there would be a lot of tourists there, but thin crowd.

紅葉の時期の方が多いのかな？
Would they visit there rather in autumn, the season of coloring-leaves beauty?

ここは素通り。だってもっと地元の人たちの生活に根ざした吊橋（牛も人も通るちょっとぐらぐらした）をブータンでみてきたのです。
I didn't stop over there because I had visited the ones, which looked vulnerable but were constructed for residents' daily use,-for cows as well- in Bhutan before.

緑の濃淡の鮮やかさ。
見とれます。
I was fascinated by light and shade of vivid green.

高原の花って、小さいものが多いですね。
かわいい。
Tiny and cute flowers attracted me!

実はここはあるレストラン。
This was the front of a restaurant.

ゆっくりしたいけれど、ホテルステイを楽しみたいので、庭のお花だけ撮って
「また来ます」と失礼しました。
I'd have enjoyed meal there but my priority was to stay the hotel in Beppu. I told the staff to visit her again.

やまなみハイウエイから千町無田へ入ったところから、くじゅう連山を望みますが、雲がかかって残念な風景です。
This was the view point for Kuju mountains. Sorry to say they were behind clouds.

このところの雨で、草原が湿地帯みたいになって景色はいいです。
The wetlands were in front of me.

由布院を右手にみながら
Yufuin, another famous hot spring town, was on the right,

車は別府へ向けて降りていきます。
I went down to Beppu.

ホテルロビーからの眺め。
I like the view from the lobby of the hotel. Last time I visited there maybe 6 years ago? for the gig by the same pianist.

半露天風呂。別府湾が見渡せます。
You could see Beppu Bay from the bath tub in the balcony of the room.

お湯はややぬるぬる。これが肌にいいのかな。
The water was a little bit slimy to the touch, might be good for skin?

水上スキーの船が波穏やかな海の上を滑るように通ります。
A water-skiing boat was passing through as if sliding on the surface.

ピアノはすでにスタンバイ。3年ぶりの生演奏にこころ踊ります。
The piano was ready waiting for the player. I was so exited to the performance after 3 yrs absence.

Of course I almost went melting. That was a marvelous night for me. And it was coincident that I met one of my old friends, who I was with when I had met the pianist for the first time. she was a fan of him as well. We talked a lot about our memories. What a relaxed and merry night it was!

次の日。再び、くじゅうを目指します。
The next day I headed for Kuju Highlands again.

少し青空がのぞいてきて、ドライブ日和になりました。
More blue sky to be seen, it became a better weather to drive.

意外に少ないやまなみハイウエイ。
Very little traffic on Yamanami Road

みんな高速を走るのね。こちらの方が好きだなあ。
People seem to like driving on highway, though I like here better.

朝日台から九重連山を望みます。昨日よりすっきり見えるかな。
The view from Asahidai toward Kuju Mountains, clearer to be seen than yesterday.

やまなみハイウエイを折れ、男池に到着。
Turing to the right off the road, I arrived at the gate to Oike spring well.

男池園地 自然・景勝地

入山協力金を払い、ペットボトル1本担いで森に入ります。
Walｋing into the woods with a pet in hand,

男池までは徒歩5分くらい、登山靴でなくても大丈夫ですが、その先黒岳に登る人は登山装備が必要です。
it's about 5 mins to the well, but if you climb Mt. Kurodake, you should prepare equipments for climbing.

ずっと以前に何度か登った思い出話を語りながら歩きます。
It reminded me of my having climbed it a long time ago.

とにかく気持ちいい！
Refresing and comfortable!

これは空気のせいですね。何度も深呼吸。
Thanks to fresh air! I took long and deep breaths again and again.

オオキツネノカミソリの群生に出逢い、ラッキー。
I was so lucky to see lilies whose name means 'big knife of fox' grown in colony.

林の中をどこまでも続いているのでした。
That was a big colony.

川沿いの道をしばらく散策します。
Walking along the river for a while

そして到着。
At last I arrived at the well.

涼しい！
Cool!

見事なブルー。’水色’という表現はこんな色から名前が付けられたのだと実感します。
I'm sure that the color of water blue was named after this color.

水を少しおすそ分けしてもらいました。
I got some freshwater here.

ここでは、泳いだり水に入ったり、コインを投げたりしては行けません。そうやって清水を保護しているのでした。
No entering, swimming, nor tossing coins or everything, that's how they preserve clear water.

水の恵みに感謝して、旅を終わります。
Thanks to the blessed from the mother nature, my trip was over.

あ、その水で育てられたみずみずしい野菜たちにも！
Also thanks to the veges raised by the water.

野菜スタンドの女性は、キャベツも大根もそれぞれ1つずつおまけしてくれました。
The lady at vege stand gave me more cabbages and ruddish than I bought.
