東京の中心に広がる、宮内庁管轄の広大な庭園。東京の都心とは思えないくらいの自然の宝庫で、1日園内を散策しても飽きません。整備されているとはいえ、かつて江戸城だった時の遺構もいくつか残っており、往年の歴史に思いを馳せながら散策するのもいいかもしれません。何よりも無料で利用することが出来ますし、最近の海外の観光客の入園の増加もあり、多言語での案内も充実しつつあります。
原則として月曜日と金曜日は休園日であることにご注意を。また季節によって閉園時間が異なり、昼の時間が短い冬は16時に閉園するため、15:30以降は入園出来ません。たまに間違える観光客もいるため、確認が必要です。勿論、犬の散歩やボールを使った遊びなどは出来ないことも把握しておく必要があります。
