斎場御嶽に始めて行きました。不思議なところです。なかなか理解できないところです。宗教は理解するものではないのでしょう。

斎場御嶽はそばを通ったことは何度かあるのですが，

大庫理（うふぐーい）
首里城正殿の二階は大庫理と呼ばれ，祭祀的な機能を持つ格式の
高い場所です。聞得大君のお新下り儀式での「お名付け（霊威づけ）」
儀礼が，首里城と同じ名前を持つこの場所でとり行われたのは，その名
にふさわしいことと言えましょう。前面にある磚（せん）敷きの広間では、
神女たち力ご聞得大君を祝福し琉球王国の繁栄を祈りました

The second floor of the Shuri-jo seiden (main hall) houses an area where ritual
functions were held. This area was called Ufuguuri and entry was extremely limited.
This area of Sefa-utaki deserves this same name because of the sacred inauguration and deifying rituals of priestesses held at the utaki.
At the area where stone tiles are laid, priestesses
blessed the highest-ranking priestess, Kikoe Ogimi,
and prayed for the prosperity of the Ryukyu Kingdom.

寄満（ゆいんち）
寄満とは首里城内にある建物の名前で、国王のために食事を作
る厨房を指します。当時，ここには国内外からの海幸・山幸が集ま
りました。 それが，「豊穣の寄り満つる所」と理解解されていったので
しょう。同じ名前を持つ斎場御嶽のこの場所には，第二次世界大戦
前まで、その年の吉兆を占う馬の形をした石（うまぐわーいし）が置
かれていました。

Yuinchi is the name of a building
also located in Shuri-jo and refers to
the cooking quarters that served
meals to the king. During the king-
dom era, seafood and produce were
brought to these cooking quarters
from Japan and abroad. The term
Yuinchi held the meaning of "a place
full of abundant harvest and catches
of fish." Here at Sefa-utaki, a horse-
shaped stone that was used to foretell
yearly fortunes was placed at the
Yuinchi till the beginning of World
War II.

三角岩
自然岩や洞穴に囲まれたこの場所には，いくつもの拝所が集ま
っています。正面に見える三角形の空間の突き当たりが三庫理
（さんぐーい）、右側がチョウノハナの拝所で、いずれも首里城内
にある場所と同じ名前を持っています。また、左側からは太平洋
と久高島が遠望できます。

さて、三角岩の右側には、「貴婦人様御休み所」と二本の鍾乳
石が見えます。滴り落ちる水はその下に置かれた壷に受けられ、
それぞれ力ご中城御殿（国王の世子）と聞得大君卸殿の吉兆を占う
とともに、お正月の若水とりの儀式にも使われる霊水でした。

Many altars exist in this area surrounded by natural rocks and openings.
Entering the triangle-shaped opening, you'll see the sanguui (altar) in front
and on the right lies the chonohana (altar),
names also existing at Shuri-jo.
On the left is a spectacular view of Kudaka Island and the Pacific Ocean.
On the right side of the triangle-shaped opening,
you'll see an area called the kifujinsama oyasumidokoro and two stalactites.
Water dripping from these stalactites fell into pots placed below
and was considered holy.
The holy water was used to foretell the fortunes of Kikoe Ogimi
(highest-ranking priestess) and Nakagusuku Udun (king's son)
as well as an offering during rituals held on New Year's Day.
