ふたたび男池（ソフトバンクCMロケ地）、台風迫る由布院、二日市に立ち寄って＜Oike Spring Again, Yuf'in and Futsukaichi＞

うっそうとした森に入ったとたん
空気がおいしい！
空気ってごちそうだったんだと気づかせてくれる九重の奥
男池に今月も行けました。
One step forward in the forest,
What fresh air! Air is a kind of treat.
I visited Oike Spring again.

紅葉には少し早いけれど
刈り入れどきの黄金の田んぼを眺めると
豊かな秋の実りを実感できます。
A little earlier to the season of enjoying leaves turning yellow and red, you could feel it's the harvest time to see golden rice fields.

由布下ろしの風の吹く由布盆地。
私が知るひなびた温泉のイメージはとうに吹き飛んで
今や第1級の観光地由布院。
湯布院の街並みは、お土産屋さんストリートと化していた。
Wind flowing down from Mt. Yufu, Yuf'in is now Japan7s foremost tourist place far different from the image which used to be rustic Onsen town.
The town turned to be souvenirs' streets.

その中でも、別府とは違う由布院の良さを発信し続け
町おこしに関わってきた人々の息遣いと、
心意気とその心意気を受け継ぐ若い人たちの
キラキラ光るまなざしを感じることもできました。
I could feel the strong will of the local people who have promoted its own attraction of the town so far and the young followers.

由布院でのコンサートの後、
福岡の二日市に立ち寄って、もう1本ピアノソロライヴ。
家にたどり着いたときは、朝3時を超えていました。
After having enjoyed the music concert, I dropped by a jazz bar to enjoy another piano concert in Futsukaichi one my way home.
It was after 3:00 when I got back home.

今回も旅の始まりはバサロ。
時間がないのでお弁当と巨峰ソフトクリームを買います。
巨峰もひとパックお買い上げ。
The first stop was Basalo, a farmers' market to buy lunch and Kyoho grape flavored icecream, and kyoho grapes as well.

今月はメダカを売っていた。アルビノ種の赤い目玉のメダカです。
They were selling medaka.

ハロウインかぼちゃ、大きいです。

エビの押しずしは初めて食べました。（630円）クオリティもボリュームもすごい。半分食べてから写真撮ってないのに気づいた。デザートに柿が入っているのが産地の道の駅らしい。
もう1度食べてもいいです。
It was my first time to have Pressed sushi and shrimp. Its quality and quantity was marvelous. I should have taken a photo BEFORE eating it!
I'd like to have it again soon.

さて、高速に入り、大分県へ。
I took the highway to Oita pref.

色彩ロードを飯田高原に向かいます。
Heading to Handa high lands on Shikisai Road.

落っこちないかと思われるほどのたくさんの丸太を載せたトラックが圧巻。
It looked almost fall down.

高度を上げていきます。
今回は青空が望めないのが残念。
I was sorry to see no blue sky today.

こちらが九重山方面と思われます。
It is supposed to be Kuju Mountains.

男池入口から遊歩道に入ります。
この一瞬で、空気がおいしいのに気づきました。
森歩きは最高です。
Walking into the forest, then I felt fresh air.
I like it very much.

ブナの森、紅葉には少し早いようです。

男池入口のすぐそばにも、お水をくむところがあります。
コーヒー屋さんかな？ペットボトル30本ほどもくんでおられました。
Just outside the gate they have a well spot. The couple might run a coffee shop. They had more 30 pets with them.

小川のせせらぎがここちいい。
I felt so comfortable to listen to the sounds of the stream.

何回来ても大好きなところです。
I love this pace so much.

おや、どんぐりと思ったら山栗が落ちているのでした。
ラッキー！
I was lucky to get some chestnuts.

名も知らぬ花。
There had many flowers whose name I don't know.

深い森の奥に進みます。
Going into the dark woods

水草がびっしりのグリーンの池。
The pond was covered with waterweeds.

紫の小さな花が彩りを添えます。
Lovely purple flowers were beautiful.

昏々と湧き出る泉でしばし俗世間を忘れます。
I enjoyed watching water sprung out.

畑の横で野菜を売っているおばあちゃんのところへ。
前回からごひいきにしています。
キャベツ、ニンジン、レタス、ブロッコリ、全て畑から直接いただきます。
I dropped by the elder lady selling fresh vegetables beside her fields.
That was my second time to buy cabbage, carrots, lettuce and broccoli.

千枚無田と呼ばれる飯田高原の広大な田んぼ。
This is the huge filed called as 'Senchomuta' in Handa highlands.

黄金の稲が稲刈りを待っていました。
The golden rice　plants were already to be harvested.

田んぼは千町と言わずたくさんあるのに、なぜ無田なのだろう？
言い伝えもあるようだ。

'Senchomuta' means 1000 cho, cho is a unit of areasquare and muta means no rice fileds. Why no rice fileds? There are lots of them there.

湯布院に着きました。
連休の初日。ホテルや旅館は満室でやっととれた素泊まりのビジネスホテル。（6000円）
それでも、ちゃんと温泉がありましたから、温泉地のビジネスホテルのクオリティは高いです。

旅の目的の一つはコレでした。
湯布院は元々由布おろしの風がきついところ。
今日は一段と風が強まってきました。雨の降らないのが幸い。
音楽祭を大人も楽しめました。
地元の方々が参加できるイベントで、その手作り感が温かかった。
One of the purposes of this trip was to join the music event.
Yuf'in is also famous as being windy blowing down from Mt. Yuf.
It was getting stronger as the typhoon was coming near.
But it was lucky that we had no rain. I enjoyed the event so much.

由布院の夜は早いのでした。大方8時か9時にはお店が閉店します。
夕食を食べ損ねるところでしたが、カモ炊き込み飯にひかれ、のれんをくぐりました。
80を超えた背中の曲がったおじいちゃんがひとりで小さな店を切り盛りしているのでした。釜飯ができるまでビールを飲んで待ちます。
You cannot account on night life in Yuf'in. restaurants and cafes were closed around 8 or 9 at night. I should have almost skipped my dinner after the concert. At last I found a small bar which an elder man over 80 yrs old alone was running. We waited for rice cooked with veges and chicken cooked in a small pot.

あつあつの釜飯はおいしかったです。
かぼちゃの煮物、天かすの入ったお吸い物、お漬物がついています。
Like this he served me the meal with soup, cooked pumpkin and pickles.

揚げ物定食の野菜が・・・・！？
But some veges in salad were.....LOL

翌日、お土産ストリートの喧騒を避けるかのように金鱗湖に近い天井桟敷へ。
外は大風でもどっしりした木造の家はみしみしとも言わず、安泰なのです。
その3階、屋根裏の片隅に通されました。
ソファに座った時、遠い記憶がじわじわとよみがえってきました。
ここには来たことがある！誰と？いつ？
The next day we went straight to an antique cafe near Kinrin Lake avoiding hustle and bustle of main streets crowded with tourists and souvenir shops. I was escorted up to the sofa in the stairwell attic.
Soon after sinking in it, an old memory came up to my mind.
I've been here once...When? With who?

建物を支える大きな柱。江戸時代に建てられて造り酒屋を利用しているとのこと。

It used to be a sake brewer.

こうやって下から手動のエレベーターでコーヒーが運ばれてきます。
階段が急なので、この方がいいですね。
That's the way they served me coffee with the hand-powered lift.

深炒りの豆で薫り高いです。
It was extra roasted and aromatic.

場所は秘密。
ある方の趣味のおうちに連れて行ってもらいました。
これも江戸時代の住居かな？
お庭を見るとこんな感じ。
Someone let us into his hobby house.
It must be one of those houses built in Edo era.

隙間風が入って底冷えします。
季節は秋そのもの。
It was a little cold blowing draft through the windows.

自宅目前の二日市に寄り道。
ここでピアノソロライヴ。
この旅2つ目のコンサートです。

On my way home we dropped by Jazz Kobo Nishimura in Ftsukaichi, Fukuoka to join the second piano concert.

満員御礼のライヴの後
打ち上げにも参加させていただき、なんど焼酎デビューしてしまった。
屋久島の「三岳」おいしかった。

After the concert I joined the party and tasted SHOCHU, brewed in Yakushima Is. for the first time.

お皿が汚くてスミマセン。半熟卵のベーコン巻、メダマ！
美味ですよ〜


ということで、自宅に帰りついたのは日づけが変わって朝3時頃になってしまいました。

来月も　また行けるかな　ブナの森

We enjoyed YAKITORI, especially shallot rolls and egg rolls.
I got home after 3:00 in the morning.
Can I visit the forest of beech next month as well?
