ナバテア人の秘密の要塞都市、ペトラ大冒険！！

行ってきました！憧れのペトラ遺跡。
｢インディ･ジョーンズ最後の聖戦｣の舞台になったことで、有名になったナバテア人の要塞都市です。ナバテア人とは、現在のイエメン辺りに住んでいた遊牧民で、紀元前5〜6世紀頃、大干ばつにより北上して、ペトラに都を築いたそうです。写真は「宮殿の墓」です。

The metropolis of the Nabateans, Petra is surrounded all around by rocks. the Nabateans, a nomad population of Arab origin, settled here between 5th and 6th century BC.

エリア ペトラ(ヨルダン)

ホテルは「ムーベンピック」遺跡の入り口まで徒歩三分の好立地。内装もゴージャスです。
This is the lobby of the Hotel Movenpick where we stayed for 2 nights. It is only 3 minutes walk from the entrance of the Petra.

遺跡の入り口からシークまでは約1キロ。馬に乗っていくこともできます。

シークと呼ばれる岩の裂け目を歩いていきます。最も狭いところで幅3メートル。両脇を断崖にはさまれた秘密の道です。
To reach the Petra, we have to walk through the narrow path called Siq.

この狭い岩の裂け目を約30分（1.8km）歩くと、突然、空が開け、エル・ハズネ（ファラオの宝物殿）と呼ばれる神殿が視界に飛び込んできます。

The Siq unwinds for almost 2 kilometers.
At the end of its long path, the Siq suddenly opens!!

I was overwhelmed by the magnificent facade of al-Khazneh. It’s simply awesome!!

お昼ご飯を食べた後、エド・ディルに向かうために、山道を登り始めました。
Stairway carved in the rock leads to the hidden monastery called ad-Dayr.

1時間以上も山道を登って、やっと到着しました。
この巨大な建物がエド･ディル（修道院）です。
頑張って良かった(ToT)圧巻です。感涙です。
This colossal monument is ad-Dayr. (40 meters high and 50 meters wide)
Like al-Khazneh, this facade is also carved into the cliff of the mountain.

エド・ディルから戻って、王家の墓に。
これは一番南側にある「アーンの墓」です。アーンとは英語で骨壷のことです。建物の上部に骨壷のような装飾があるため、そう呼ばれています。
At the opposite end of the Wadi-Musa valley, there is a series of monumental tombs called the Royal Tombs. This Urn Tomb is the southernmost of the Royal Tombs. There is a large urn on top of its pediment.

「アーンの墓」の隣にあるのは、「シルクの墓」です。ファサードの白い模様からそう呼ばれています。

一番北側にある「宮殿の墓」です。王家の墓の中で最も大きく、侵食で朽ち果てているのが逆にかっこいい！
The palace tomb is the largest one.

最後はひざが痛くなったので、ロバに乗って帰りました。5ドルです。
I was so tired that I rode a donkey to go back to the hotel. Actually we walked from 8:30 to 19:30!!
