2012年6月25日。ウミガメさんと泳ぎたく、ケラマに着いたその日に宿の奥さんにその旨を伝えたところ、満潮時に遭遇するけどその時間はすぎたということで、翌日の満潮の時間にあわせて行きました。ウミガメさんに遭遇できなくてもビーチが奇麗なら、と心の中では思っていましたが、海で泳ぎ始めてしばらくしたらウミガメさんが水面にプカプカ息をしているのが見えて、近くに行ってみると海底で餌を食べてました。大きなカメさんと小さなカメさんを見かけました。カメさんのお腹の方にはちっさい魚がコバンザメのように棲家？みたいにくっついているのを見て、本当に微笑ましかったです。ビーチは太陽が真上に来ると日陰がないのですが、本当にのんびりできるビーチでおすすめです。カメさんの産卵時期には、砂浜にあがってくることもあるそうですが、たまに迷って町中に現れて保護されることもあるとか。美しい自然を大切にしようと思わせてくれるような、本当に素敵な自然の残るビーチです。古座間味ビーチでシュノーケリングセットを借りている場合、電話をすれば無料送迎もしてくれるようです。私たちは気づかずにタクシーを呼び、古座間味ビーチまで戻りシュノーケリングセットを借りた時に教えてもらいました。

One of the reason of our visiting Kerama islands was to see sea turtles and we were so excited when we heard from the owner of the B&B that sea turtles usually came to swim at high tide. We saw turtles coming up to the sea surface for breathing and went close to that point. A big turtle was eating seaweed holding small fishes under his tummy, it was so cute. According to the local people, there are 7 or 8 sea turtles in Ama nowadays and they sometimes lose their ways and come up to the town during the egg laying season. On the day we visited, the local people helped one turtle returning to the sea. The Ama beach, itself, are a natural beach with white sand, but you cannot find much shades on the beach so I recommend you to bring a beach umbrella or to come early or in the evening for swimming. If you would rent a snorkeling set at Furuzamami beach shop, the shop would offer a pick-up service to/from Ama beach.
