Day and Night at Tsumago, Old Post Town 妻籠の夏「伝統芸能の夕べ」

Tsumago was a post town on the Nakasendo route between Kyoto and Edo. It is known today as one of the best preserved post towns in Japan. The town and its residents go to great lengths to recreate the ambiance of the Edo Period, allowing visitors to imagine they have slipped back to an earlier time!

On summer weekends, they perform their traditional arts including dance and drums. It's an interesting event really. After the excitement, night went on into stillness/darkness at Tsumago...
