Friendship and goodwill visit<br />City of Hekinan had a sister city affiliation with City of Edmonds on April 5th, 1988.  So we had  the 17th anniversary this year. We have had lots of exchange programs to develop and spread mutual understanding and friendship between the citizens of both cities.<br />Chubu International Airport was open in February this year. And the world grows smaller as the means of transportation improve. The 2005 Aichi Expo starts on March 25.<br />We have more opportunities to know another culture and make new friends.<br />Wishing your visit will bring further promotion of friendship between Edmonds and Hekinan.

  • Some members of Hekinan Yacht Club took us to a tide embarkment (green line) and back to Shinkawa Harbor (red line). We enjoyed looking at the landscape of Industrial zone with Toyota plant and Thermal Power Plant.

  • Take sweets.<br />Simple way of drinking powder green tea<br />Take the tea bowl, chawan with your right hand.<br />Place the chawan on your left palm.<br />Steady the chawan with your right hand.<br />Bow your head slightly to express thanks.<br />Turn the chawan clockwise twice in order to avoid its front.<br />Drink the tea to the last tip.<br />Wipe the place where you drank from with your right thumb and index finger.<br />Wipe your fingers on your kaishi.<br />Turn the chawan back so that the front faces you.<br />Place the chawan in front of you outside the tatami edging.<br />
