私たちの生活を様々な製品やサービスも、当たり前のようにそこにあるのではなく、それらを発明するのに、大量且つ効率的に生産するのに、あるいは日々の暮らしを支え続けるのに、人々の不断の努力と叡智が積み重なっていることを学ぶことが出来る施設である。いくつかのエリアに分けられており、総じて子供向けの施設であるが、勿論大人でも充分に楽しむことが出来る。
施設名に『科学』とあるが、展示されている構成要素のほとんどは『物理学』で、数は少ないがいくつか『化学』にまつわる展示もある。一方で『生物学』及び『地学』に関する展示は皆無に等しい。物理学にしても化学にしても、物理方程式や分子組成といった難解な説明や図式はほとんど無く、むしろ身近なものに置き換えて、触ってみたり遊んでみたりしながら身をもって学ぶ要素が大きい。そしてそういった物理学や化学は、今も尚進化を続け、新たなエネルギーや素材形成に寄与し、多種多様な産業へと発展していく基礎となることが学べる。特に2階にある産業の歴史を展示したエリアでは、『電気』『石油』『鉄鋼』を主体に、単にそういった素材が存在するだけでなく、如何にして現在の生活に欠かせない素材となったのかが学べる。
各展示の説明の多くは日本語だが、体験することを主体としているため、日本語に馴染みのない外国人でも気軽に利用できると思う。勿論、各展示室の行き来にエスカレーター・エレベーターが完備されており、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方でも気軽に利用することが出来る。
放電や凍結等、定期的に様々な実験が催されている。特に子供たち向けであるが、一部の説明員のスタッフの説明の仕方があまり抑揚が無く、興味深い事柄に置き換えるような説明方法ではないため、折角の興味深い実験なのに退屈さを感じさせてしまうかもしれない。また一部の映像はかなり古く、アップデートされていないことにも注意が必要である。

Although the name of the facility is "Science," most of the exhibits are physics-related, with a few chemistry-related exhibits. On the other hand, there are no exhibits related to "biology" or "geology". In both physics and chemistry, there are almost no difficult explanations or diagrams such as physical equations or molecular compositions, but rather, there is a large element of learning through touch and play by replacing them with familiar objects. Visitors can learn that physics and chemistry are still evolving, contributing to the formation of new energy and materials, and serving as the basis for the development of a wide variety of industries. In particular, in the area on the second floor that displays the history of industry, visitors can learn not only about the existence of materials such as electricity, petroleum, and steel themselves, but also how these materials became indispensable to our lives today.
Most of the explanations in each exhibit are in Japanese, but since the main focus is on hands-on experience, even foreigners unfamiliar with the Japanese language can easily use the museum. Of course, the museum is equipped with escalators and elevators to and from each exhibition room, making it easy for visitors with disabilities, such as those in wheelchairs, to use the museum.
Various experiments, such as electric discharge and freezing, are held regularly. The explanations by some of the explanatory staff, especially for children, are not very intonated and are not translated into interesting topics, which may make visitors feel bored even though the experiments are very interesting. It should also be noted that some of the videos are quite old and have not been updated.
