ねぶた祭りは青森を代表する祭りで、開催される当日は大勢の観光客でごった返し、ねぶたを間近で見ることすら難しい。さらにその勇壮な姿は日本人だけでなく海外の人の心も捕えている。そんなねぶたを間近でじっくり鑑賞できる博物館である。あくまでねぶたの成り立ちや細部の構造、色彩など、ねぶたの美術的な要素や迫力を鑑賞するための博物館であって、ねぶた祭りの熱気や臨場感はここでは味わえない。祭り当日のお囃子などがBGMで流れるものの、ねぶたが展示されている大ホールに響き渡るほどではなく、むしろ館内は静かな方である。それでも眼前に迫るほどのねぶたの迫力には終始圧倒される。各ねぶたは撮影OKのあるため、記念に撮影していくといいだろう。
時間が合えば、ねぶた祭りの和太鼓などの演奏や、面やうちわの塗り絵体験が出来る。これらは子供に大人気なので体験してみるといいだろう。

Although the music of Ohayashi (Japanese festival orchestra) on the Nebuta festival day is played by BGM, because the hall in the museum is very large, it doesn't sound as well as directing heated atmosphere. However, it is a great museum for appreciating the power of the rarely seen Nebuta! Each Nebuta can be shot. You are free to take pictures of them.
Sometimes there are Ohayashi performances and workshops of Nebuta. Some of them are painting workshops that paint to mask or Uchiwa (Japanese fan). They are very popular with children and foreigners.
