静岡市民の憩いの場として開放されている公園です。元は徳川家康の居城であった駿府城ですが、明治の廃城後に少しずつ姿を変えて今に至ったそうです。広大な敷地で四季折々の花々に彩られ、ゆったりとくつろぎながら散策することが出来ますが、広場があるものの駆けっこをしたりボール遊びを専用の広場ではないため、遊ぶ際は注意が必要です。
ところどころに当時の面影を残す城跡を見ることが出来るため、往年の姿に思いを馳せながら巡るのもいいかもしれません。北西部では発掘作業が進められており、その一部を見学することが出来ます（渡される資料や担当者による解説は日本語のみです）。北東部にある紅葉山庭園は有料ですので注意が必要です。
憩いの場、遊び場としてだけでなく、日本史を勉強の場として、とても魅力的な公園です。

The park is a place of rest for Shizuoka citizens. Originally it was Sumpu Castle, the residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu. It seems that it has become the present park while changing its appearance little by little since the Meiji era.
You'ill be able to take a walk while relaxing, since the spacious park has seasonal flowers. On the other hand, it seems that there is no space dedicated to running or playing balls. You should be careful when playing in this park.
There are historical sites of Sumpu Castle in this park in places. Moreover, excavation work is currently being conducted in the northwestern part of the park. You may be able to tour the excavation site. This park may still have treasures of Sengoku period or Edo period! All materials for the tour are written in Japanese.
Although the Japanese garden in the northeastern part of the park is charged, this park will heal you.
