Kawagoe Festival in 2011

I lived in Edogawabashi, on Yurakucho line, at that time. I thought it would have been good idea if I lived on the same line. So, I went to Kawagoe without any specific plan. It was Kawagoe Festival day and so crowded, but I enjoyed its atmosphere.

I did not check a map beforehand, so just followed the crowd. Coedo beer flag. I have once drunk this beer in ANA flight.

There were a lot of festival floats going down the street.

This festival started in the middle of 17th century, the Kawagoe castle lord dedicated some items to Hikawa shrine and also promoted local festival.

There were preserved old buildings.

So many people. Some parts, it was difficult walk even.

時の鐘 (Bell Tower), it was originally built in 17th century, the current one was built in 1894 after the great fire.

Was he Michizane Sugawara? He was a scholar and politician in Heian Period, but he was sent to the south after political battle. Now, he was also regarded as the god of study.
