Weekend Trip to Hokuriku, 2009 (Eiheiji, Fukui)

I went to the Eiheiji during this bus trip.
This temple is one of Soto group of Zen Buddhism, and founded by Dogen in 13th century. But there were some fires in the past, the current temple buildings are all not so old.

エリア 永平寺・丸岡(福井)

This is the way to the temple.

The painting at the ceiling of Sanshokaku. This place was made in 1930 and those drawings were painted by about 144 painters.
I thought it was much older product...

This is the hallway with stairs, a bit scary to go down because it was steep and slippery.

After the temple, I ate "Kusadango" (Japanese sweets, rice and herb paste with sweet beans paste), yummy!
