観梅祭り(青梅)　Plum-blossom viewing festival in Ome

昨日までの風雨とは打って変わってのよい天気で、観梅日和でした。この日の吉野梅卿は「観梅市民まつり」が開催されていてとってもにぎわっておりました。こんなにたくさんの満開の梅を観たのは初めてだったので興奮しました!!今が見ごろです！

In contrast to rain and strong wind yesterday, it was a nice day for "kanbai" (plum-blossom viewing) today. There was a civic plum-blossom viewing festival in Yoshino-baigo in Ome city and very crowded. It was the first time to see such a lot of ume (Japanese plum or apricot) full blossom for the first time (even I am Japanese and live here whole my life!) and made me very excited. It is the best time to go and see ume!

多摩川です。河口は通勤電車からよく見ておりましたが、上流を見たのは初めてです

It is Tama river (run through Yamanashi, Kanagawa and Tokyo). I have seen this lower part many times when going to work, but it is the first time to see upper part.

なんという名前なのかなどまったく分からないのですが、紅梅です。。。色がとっても鮮やかです

I do not know what this plum-blossom's name is ... anyway thier colour were so bright pink!

白梅もたくさんありました。真っ青な空との対照がとても美しいですね

There were many white ones too. It is beautiful contrast of white blossoms and clear blue sky!

そして定番のかわいらしいピンクもありました！こちらはしだれ梅です。なんともかわいらしかったです

And there is the pink one! So lovely! This one is the weeping plum tree.

梅郷の中腹まで登ってきました。なんともいえない美しさ。この時期にこの場所に来ることができたことの喜びを感じれました

I climbed the halfway up "Baigo" (plum hill) and saw this scenery, I was moved by this beauty. I felt happiness for I could come here at this moment.

ほぼ一番上からの景色です。梅、梅、梅で梅のじゅうたんのようでした。

It was the scenery from almost top, I could see Ume all over the hill, looks like the carpet!

濃淡の混ざり合い具合がきれいでした

I love the way dark and pale colours are mixed, so pretty.

反対側の斜面には濃い色の梅が若干多い比率でみられました。キレイ！

The other side of "Baigo" hill, there seemed to be much darker pink blossom trees than this side ...Kirei!

梅郷をまた中腹まで下りてきての1枚。これぞ梅まつりといった景色。このアングルが、チラシとかに使われている気がします

It was a photo from the halfway down "Baigo". I guess this is the scenery (from this point) used for brochures.

愛犬家の方々もたくさんいらっしゃいました。わたしのお気に入りはこのジャックラッセルテリア(^^)飼い主さんに持ち上げられ写真を撮られているのですが、不本意な表情が笑えました！

There were many with their dogs. Among them, this Jack Russel Terrier was my favorite! Please look at his face, he looked not so happy about being posed unwillingly.

またまた犬の写真ですが･･･なんだ、この犬種とおどろいてしまいました！アフガンハウンドににてるけど、チョイ違うんだよな〜と思い、帰ってきて検索した結果、スコティッシュ・ディアハウンドという子っぽいです。めちゃカメラ目線でした

Dog picture again! What's this dog kind?? A bit looks like Afgan Hound, but different... so I have checked the internet after coming back home, so my idea is he would be "Scottish Deerhound"...

お祭りで浴衣(着物)姿の少女たちを発見！梅の花のようにかわいらしい！

I've met the festival girls wearing Yukata (or Kimono) , they were as pretty as plum-blossoms!

梅郷を歩いている最中にも和太鼓の音が聞こえておりましたが、梅郷の出口の向かいにあるお寺で、地元の方々が囃しておりました。活気があり気持ちが盛り上がりました！

I could hear the drum sounds when I was walking in "Baigo", there were locals playing Japanese traditional instruments (mostly wadaiko, Japanese drums) at the temple near to "Baigo". I was excited at this lively show!

梅郷を出ても、さすが青梅という地名だけに、梅の花が畑や民家のお庭にもたくさんありました。とてもキレイなピンク色の梅です。

Outside "Baigo", still there were many plum trees here and there, as the meaning of Ome is "(Japanese) plum or apricot. This is very beautiful pink blossom!

近くの梅園でホット梅酒をいただいちゃいました〜
梅の産地で飲んでいるせいかとってもおいしかった気がします♪後ろにちっちゃく写っているタヌキがポイントです

I had a glass of hot Umeshu in a plum orchard. Umeshu is the liquer made from Ume (plum), Shochu (Japanese liquer) and sugar. It is easy to drink and very popular. Can you see the ragoon statue?? It is a kind of funny statue;)
