The number of escalators/elevators seems small compared to the size of the airport

石垣を含む八重山諸島への観光やビジネスに、なくてはならない空港。定期便が発着する日本最南端の空港でもあり、那覇空港だけでなく羽田・成田・中部・関西・福岡等の主要都市からの直通の便もあるため、空港という施設としてはかなり充実している。空港へのアクセスは車のみであるが、石垣市街地・ユーグレナ石垣港離島ターミナルからバスで30分程度で行き来出来、本数も比較的充実している。飲食店も比較的多く、目的の便の搭乗手続きを待つ際も特にストレスを感じることは少ないだろう。
一方で、保安検査場周辺の通路が狭く、特に夏季休暇の時期などの混雑が見込まれる時期には、保安検査待ちの列は1～2列にならざるを得ず、長蛇の列が出来やすい。保安検査や出発ロビーへ向かう2階へは、階段だけでなくエレベーター・エスカレーター等の他の昇降手段もあるが、空港の規模と比較してエスカレーターの数が少ないように感じた（特に下りのエスカレーターは存在するのか？と思ってしまうくらいだった）。特に車椅子等の障碍を持つ方は注意してもらいたい。
また、地方空港であればどこも似たようなものであるが、充電用のコンセントが設置されている席は少ない。羽田空港や関西空港等、そういった施設が充実している空港と同じ感覚でいると、コンセントを求め空港内を彷徨うことになることに注意が必要だ。

The airport is indispensable for sightseeing or business in the Yaeyama Islands including Ishigaki. It is also the southernmost airport in Japan with regular flights, and has direct flights not only from Naha Airport but also from major cities such as Haneda, Narita, Chubu, Kansai, and Fukuoka, making it a very well-developed airport facility. Access to the airport is by car only, but it takes about 30 minutes by bus from Ishigaki city center and Euglena Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal, and the number of buses is relatively plentiful. There are also many restaurants, so you will not feel stressed when waiting for boarding procedures for your desired flight.
On the other hand, the aisles around the security checkpoints are narrow, and especially during the summer vacation season when crowds are expected, the lines waiting for security checks must be one or two lines long, and long lines can easily form. There are stairs as well as elevators and escalators to the second floor for security check and the departure lobby, but the number of escalators seemed small compared to the size of the airport (especially the down escalator, which I wondered if it even existed). I'd like to ask people with disabilities, especially those in wheelchairs, to take note of this.
Also, as is the case at all regional airports, there are only a few seats with power outlets for recharging. If you think that airports such as Haneda and Kansai Airports are equipped with such facilities, you may end up wandering around the airport in search of a power outlet.
