司馬遼太郎の代表作『坂の上の雲』に魅入られ、期待していっただけに、実際に観覧した時の落胆は凄まじかったことを覚えています。松山在住の知人も、「あれは完全に税金の無駄遣いだ」と猛批判するのも分かります。
上空から見ると正三角形になっていて、他にはないポストモダンな建築物であるように見えます。しかし、それゆえに展示に活用できるスペースも限定されてしまい、印象に残ったのは、各スペースを繋ぐための通路が延々と続いていること。建物の活用が物凄く非効率である、という印象が強かったです。
また、『坂の上の雲』という名称を冠していながら、小説の内容に触れられる展示は、ただでさえ少ない展示の中でもさらに限定的。松山の歴史や風土・風俗、松山から輩出された偉人の展示など多面的な展示で、何を焦点に充てた博物館なのか分かりませんでした。
『松山にまつわる諸事を集約した博物館』という位置づけとして来館した方がよさそうです。『坂の上の雲』を強く意識しすぎると、ガッカリすると思います。

If you are a big fan of "Saka no Ue no Kumo" which is one of the representative works of Ryotaro Shiba, you may be very disappointed at the exhibition of this museum.
There are two reasons. One of them is that it is extremely inefficient to use the building as exhibition rooms. You may think that the interior of the building is occupied mostly by aisles. The building seen from above is an equilateral triangle, so it is very unique. However, it seems quite the opposite effect on the exhibition side.
Another is that the purpose of the exhibition has not been decided. The exhibition on "Saka no Ue no Kumo" is only a part. In addition, there are exhibitions of the history and climate of Matsuyama city, and great persons from Matsuyama city. However, those exhibits are not directly related to "Saka no Ue no Kumo".
This museum is a museum with various exhibits of history and culture in Matsuyama City, you had better think that it is a part of the museum.
