レユニオン最高峰ピトン・デ・ネージュに抱かれた美しき高原の町シラオス（Cilaos）

レユニオン中央部にある３つの圏谷(Cirque)のうちの一つ、シラオス圏谷。（他2つはマファト圏谷とサラジー圏谷）
標高約1200mに位置し、周りを2000m級の山々に取り囲まれた爽やかで穏やかな空気に包まれた高原の町である。
人口は1万人弱と決して多くはないが（とは言ってもこれだけ奥地に入植して美しい町並みを創り出しインフラ設備を整えているのが驚きなのだが）、レストランやみやげ物屋、宿泊施設などツーリストにとって必要なものは一通りそろっており、この美しく壮大な景観にあこがれる者そして最高峰ピトン・デ・ネージュ(3070m)に挑む者を優しく迎えてくれる街である。

自分たちもシラオスに一泊した翌12月29日から30日にかけ、ピトン・デ・ネージュ登頂に挑んだ。
その前に、しばしシラオスの街を満喫することに。
ワインも名産なことだしね。
