秩父の山々、木々等の自然の息吹を感じることが出来る神社。日本に今も息づく『山岳信仰』を直に感じることが出来る。
三峰山周辺は、現在は絶滅したとされている『ニホンオオカミ』の生息地の一つとして知られており、そのため狼が、神社の眷属として神社の各所で見ることが出来る。境内のほぼ全ての領域が杉の木で覆われており、まさに森の中を散策しているような感覚を覚えるが、少なくとも本殿のある領域は参道は整備されているため、道幅も広く確保されており歩きやすい。山の中の神社であるため起伏は大きいが、前述の通り参道が整備されていることもあり、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方でも参拝することが出来る（単身では非常に難しいが）。参道が整備されているとはいえ、全ての道が舗装されているわけではない。そのため、歩きやすい服装・靴で参拝するのが好ましい。
遥拝殿、もしくは参道の途中にある茶屋等から、秩父の山々の絶景を眺めることが出来るのもこの神社の持つ魅力の一つだろう。
本殿のある領域のみを参拝・散策するのであれば、所要時間は1時間程度である。一方で奥宮は一部で登山道となっていることに注意が必要である。駐車場及びバス停となっている場所から徒歩で30分以上は要する。
公共交通機関はバスのみ。ほとんどの場合、バスを含め車での参拝は秩父湖を経由する道路を利用するため、紅葉の季節などは大混雑する（駐車場がすぐに満車となり、駐車できるようになるまでに1時間を要する場合もある）。道中は急カーブの連続となるため、車の運転には充分に注意し、時間に余裕をもって運転してもらいたい。他にも、大輪バス停からの登山道を利用して行くルートもある。

The area around Mt. Mimine is known as one of the habitats of the Japanese wolf, which is now believed to be extinct, and wolves can be seen in various parts of the shrine as dependents. Almost all of the shrine precincts are covered with cedar trees, giving visitors the feeling of strolling through a forest, but at least the approach to the main shrine is well maintained, and the path is wide and easy to walk on. The shrine is located in the mountains, so there are many ups and downs, but as mentioned above, the approach to the shrine is well maintained and wheelchairs and other disabilities are able to visit the shrine (although it is very difficult for a single person). Although the paths are well maintained, not all of them are paved. Therefore, it is preferable to wear comfortable walking clothes and shoes.
One of the charms of this shrine is that visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the Chichibu mountains from "Yohai-den (the far worship hall)" or from the teahouses on the approach to the shrine.
If you only visit and explore the area where the main shrine is located, it will take about one hour. On the other hand, please note that a part of the Okumiya Shrine is a mountain trail. It takes at least 30 minutes on foot from the parking lot and bus stop.
The only public transportation is buses. Most visitors by car, including buses, use the road via Lake Chichibu, which is very crowded during the autumn foliage season (the parking lot fills up quickly and it can take up to an hour to get a parking space). The road has a series of sharp curves, so please drive with caution and allow plenty of time. Another route is to take the trail from the Owa bus stop.
