My dear Nii,
Here is a table contents of my 15 volumes travel blogs in San Francisco.
It has already been two years since your sister in heart Madam Q moved
there.
I am very happy I could visit her.
Everything started from my making acquaintance of you.

¡Overview of Surroundings
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10346780/
As madam Q was busy preparing for an art exhibition on that day, her daughter M picked me up at the airport.
Their flat is located at the center of the Financial
District, modern and the busiest area.
Although being close to the sea, the air was neither
sticky nor smelly.
My hotel was so conveniently located that it was just
one block away from their flat.
Madam Q welcomed me with her delicious curry.
I always admire her being a great cook despite the fact
that she lived through a busy life as a working mother
for a long time.
You can get this guide book from a free paper box which you can find everywhere in town.
¢Ferry Building
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10346821/
In the afternoon madam Q took me to the Ferry
Building where I bought delicious cheese and bread she
recommended.
I realized the cost of living there is as high as in Tokyo.
¡úFerry Building
This used to the the main port of entry for SF in the
19th century.
It has recently been renovated and has many shops
selling locally produced chocolates, organic farm
produce, cheese, etc.

£Traveling by Cable Car without knowing where
going to
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10346839/
On the second day, I strolled the town alone as I usually do whenever I visit a foreign country.
I bought a City Pass on M¡Çs advice.
It is valid for one week.
With this, you can use almost all public transportation
facilities free of charge, and also get free admission to
some museum.
¡úThese are the original cable cars.
There used to be about seven or eight different routes. Now only three are operational.
¤Fisherman's Wharf
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10346848/
They are very stinky!!
But, nothing can attract tourists more than these wild
sea lions!
¡úSea Lions
They are permanent residents at the Pier 37
Fisherman's Wharf.
¥Aquarium of the Bay
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10346859/
I have a bitter memory of jerry fish.
It stung my husband while we were snorkeling at the
Tioman Island in Malaysia.
Yet, what a beautiful and fantastic creature it is!!
Look at this translucent and elegant feature!!
I forgot for how long I had been watching it!
Nii, I heard that there used be an aquarium in a huge
park at the sea view road.
I wish it could be re-opend.
¦Observed Madam Q's Art Class
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10347558/
"It took some time for me to adjust to new life here.¡É Madam Q mentioned.
Indeed, I suppose so.
It is not so easy to live in a foreign country after
retirement.
Anyhow, she now enjoys attending her art class,
swimming, and taking care of her lovely granddaughter.
The art class was full of old girls.
Nii, you can find madam Q, can¡Çt you?
During the lesson, I slipped out of the classroom and
went to a botanical garden located nearby.
See volume 7.
After I came back to Japan, as her grand daughter A
began to go to the nursery school, madam Q will be able to focus more on her art activity.
§Botanical Garden
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10348993/
How many unknown plants are there here!!
For plant lovers, this is a place you can spend a whole
day and enjoy.
Besides, the admission is free!!
What I saw first in the garden were policemen arresting
the homeless...
¨De Young Museum & Legion of Honor
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10348997/
The botanical garden is located in a gigantic park called the Golden Gate Park.
It has a Golf Course, California Academy of Sciences,De Young Museum, Tennis Courts, a Japanese Garden, and much much more.
This is a special volume for the De Young Museum.
©Bay Cruise
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10348998/
This cruise goes only to the Golden Gate Bridge and
the Alcatraz Island, where Al Capone was imprisoned
for life.
I can¡Çt explain details as I could hardly hear the
explanation of a tour guide because of loud voices of
excited children.
I was deeply touched when the boat passed under the
Bridge because a Japanese yacht man arrived there in
1962 after his solo crossing of the Pacific.
He left Japan and entered US without his passport
because leaving Japan by yacht was illegal at that time,
however, he was welcomed as a hero instead of being
arrested.
ªChina Town
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10348999/
The China Town is not so far from the madam Q¡Çs flat.
She often visits there on foot when she needs some
fresh fruits and vegetables.
She enjoys oriental atmosphere I suppose.
Nii, have you ever read ¡ÈThe Joy Luck Club¡É written by Amy Tan?
I learned that she lives in SF, so I wanted to ask about
her at the Chinese Culture Centre.
I also wanted to join Chinese Heritage Walk Tour
organized by the Centre.
But unfortunately, I couldn¡Çt contact them, so I walked around the China town by myself.
«Conservatory of Flowers & California Academy of
Science
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10349000/
¡úAcademy of Science
Opened last year, it is the biggest aquarium on the west coast.

¬Victorian Home Walk & Dinner at "the house"
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10349002/
It is always great fun for me to take local people to the places they have never been to before.
It tends to be curious travelers rather than local people who find something uncommon yet very attractive.
In the evening, M and her husband invited me for a
dinner at a very popular, stylish and charming
multinational restaurant.
Much to my surprise, Japanese food keeps evolving
internationally!
We enjoyed delicious food and nice atmosphere.
¡úVictorian Houses
San Francisco is famous for it's victorian style houses.
They were built in the 19th century.
Farmers Market
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10349007/
'Before going for a drive why don¡Çt you go to the
Farmers Market for shopping? You will surely like it!!'
Yes!! Madam Q knows exactly what I want!
®Mural Paintings of the Coit Tower
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10349010/
Unexpectedly, the Coit Tower became one of the most impressive places in this trip because of these
attractive mural paintings.
'Part of a Public Works of Art Project, they were
painted in 1934 by 25 artists.
Done in Diego Rivera's social realism style, they are
sympathetic portrayals of the daily life of working class
Californians during the depression. '
(quoted from this site)
http://gocalifornia.about.com/od/casfmenu/a/coittower.htm
¯Golden Gate Bridge & Sausalito
http://4travel.jp/traveler/tougarashibaba/album/10349012/
On the last day, madam Q and M took me to Sausalito,
the famous beach area on the other side of the
Golden Gate Bridge.
I will never forget about my walking and talking with
madam Q on the Bridge.
Sausalito is a nice, lovely resort town where many artists live. I envied them because they can get there by car in only 30 minutes from the Financial District without
any traffic jam.
San Francisco is rather a small but quite comfortable
town to live, I believe.
Now Nii, my travel blog in San Francisco is over.
Without their help, I couldn¡Çt enjoy staying there so
much.
I hope and pray that you will be able to visit your
sister in heart in the near future.
